  • Patent number: 11543032
Abstract: A last-stage pressure drop-adjustable multistage brush seal structure. The seal structure comprises a stator casing, gears, gear shafts, stator casing vent holes, a brush wire beam, downstream brush seal piece vent through holes, downstream brush seal upper side gear teeth, and the like. The stator casing is stationary. An upstream brush seal piece is fixedly mounted on the inner side of the stator casing. According to the last-stage pressure drop-adjustable multistage brush seal structure, reverse driving force moment in an inclined direction of brush wires is given to the gear shafts, torsion moment is transferred to the gears through the gear shafts, and the downstream brush seal piece gear teeth are engaged with the downstream brush seal piece and transfer the torsion moment to the downstream brush seal piece, such that the downstream brush seal piece rotates around a rotor.

Abstract: HVLP (High Velocity Low Pressure) motor-driven fans and other types of fans, blowers and vacuums include one or more features for minimizing vibration and eliminating other causes of fan or motor failure. Examples of such features include a fan blade with a particularly short tail section, a fan wheel spacer with a counterbore in an axial face of the spacer, and a small boss or thin shim adjacent to a screw that clamps an assembly of stator laminations between two motor brackets. The tail section, being relatively short, resists bending during high speed rotation, thereby preventing vibration. The counterbore in the spacer provides the spacer with resilience for maintaining an axial clamping force even as part dimensions change due to thermal expansion. The boss or shim allows the screw to tightly clamp the stator laminations without cracking either of the motor brackets.

  • Patent number: 9194256
Abstract: A rotating machine comprising such as an axial power turbine or a turbocharger has a housing with a bearing cavity and a chamber separated by a first wall. A shaft is rotatable about an axis in the bearing cavity, extends through an opening in the first wall and is mounted for rotation on a bearing assembly provided in the bearing cavity. An oil sealing arrangement including an oil diffuser device is arranged on the shaft for displacing oil away from the shaft as it rotates. This restricts the flow of oil to the opening. The oil diffuser device defines a diffuser passage between the bearing assembly and the first wall, the passage extending outwardly of the axis.

  • Patent number: 9194304
Abstract: During engine braking of a turbocharged internal combustion engine, the exhaust gas pressure increases and this is used to pressurize the seals between the turbocharger shaft and the bearing housing so as to prevent oil leakage into the compressor housing. Immediately after engine braking, stored exhaust gas pressure is used to pressurize the seals at the turbine end so as to prevent oil leakage into the turbine housing. In an alternative arrangement the exhaust gas is used to generate a reduced pressure in the bearing housing to increase the pressure gradient across the seals.

  • Patent number: 9033651
Abstract: A system, in certain embodiments, includes a seal assembly having a seal body. The seal body includes an inlet buffer port and an outlet eduction port. The inlet buffer port is configured to receive a compressed buffer gas, such as shop air, which is injected into the inlet buffer port. The compressed buffer gas blocks the flow of a compressed process gas, such as land fill gas, by opposing the flow of the compressed process gas through the seal assembly. Both the compressed buffer gas and the compressed process gas may be expelled through the outlet eduction port.

  • Patent number: 8979478
Abstract: A bearing and seal assembly for supporting and sealing a terminating outboard end of an impeller shaft in a centrifugal pump such as a between-bearings pump includes only one seal but provides advantages typical of a dual-seal assembly, including barrier fluid protection against seal damage caused by abrasive slurries, and protection against leaking of toxic process fluid to atmosphere. A bearing housing sealed to the pump's pressure casing encloses the seal, bearing, and terminating impeller shaft end. Leakage of process fluid past the seal is prevented by a lubricating, pressurized, cooled barrier fluid which is circulated through the bearing housing by an external pump and/or by an internal, shaft-driven impeller. Because the impeller shaft terminates within the bearing housing and does not penetrate to atmosphere, the barrier fluid is contained within the bearing housing and a second seal is not required.
