Patent number: 8124019Abstract: The pump assembly includes an impeller rotatably mounted in a pipe of the reactor having blades that generate a flow of fluid slurry through the pipe, a nosecone protruding in an upstream direction in front of the impeller blades that rotates along with the blades, and a plurality of stationary guide vanes connected to the housing upstream of the impeller blades and having free ends that are radially spaced apart from the nosecone. The leading edges of the stationary vanes are shaped to direct any stringy material into the radial gaps between the free ends of the stationary vanes and the rotating nose cone to be shredded and thus prevent fouling and clogging of the pump assembly when such stringy material is generated during the polymerization process.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2010Date of Patent: February 28, 2012Assignee: ExxonMobil Chemical Patents Inc.Inventors: Robert G. Patent number: 8109714Abstract: A sewage pump is to mount a blade set coaxially mounted between a water paddle disk and a first wheel blade within the blade chamber, wherein the blade set comprises a stationary annular blade base and a movable second wheel blade. The second wheel blade is within the annular blade base fixed to an inner wall of the blade chamber. Particularly, the stationary blade base and the second wheel blade respectively have blade sheets facing toward each other. When the sewage pump is driven by its motor, the water paddle disk, the first and second wheel blades are rotated to cause a suction force to drive precipitation flow into the blade chamber via the precipitation inlet. The first wheel blade cooperates with a gear ring to perform a first smashing stage and then the blade set performs a second smashing stage to improve the smashing efficiency of the sewage pump.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2007Date of Patent: February 7, 2012Inventor: Robert M. Patent number: 8025248Abstract: The invention is a detachable “blade foil” system for comminuting machines which employ a rotating turbine. The turbine blades are each endowed with a detachable leading edge which is shaped in an air foil configuration. These “blade foils” are penetrated by a vent chamber having an inlet port and an outlet port. The vent chambers aid in drying input material that is processed by a comminuting machine and also aid in reducing sound from the turbine. The configuration of the inventive blade foils also vary to aid in material drying. The configuration of the blade foils also define the level of particle size attributed to the processed output material. Hence by selecting particular blade foil configurations the operator can achieve different levels of material drying and differing output particle sizings.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2009Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Inventors: David J. Patent number: 7996931Abstract: The novel enhanced pool safety device of the present disclosure increases safety around pools and prevents unnecessary drowning. The apparatus is disposed in a pool drain system and had been at least one blade connected to an axle and moved by the suction force provided by the filter system. As water moves from a pool to an intake duct via a drain, the combination of moving water and vacuum force turns blades, which cut foreign materials, such as hair, that comes through the drain grating. The cutting of these materials prevents loss of life that may arise as humans and other objects become entangled in pool drains.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2006Date of Patent: August 16, 2011Inventor: Allison Sage Plette
