It includes a suction chamber (1) connected by a communication conduit (3), as well as a filter vessel (5), into which the water drawn in enters by an open upper inlet (6) and exits by multiple small orifices made in its wall (7) and/or its lower base (8). The communication conduit (3) is arranged at a lower level to that of the filter vessel lower base. Moreover, below the lower base (8) of the filter vessel (5) and the impeller assembly (9) an ample hollow space (16, 17) is arranged and is capable of containing a relatively high volume of water.

Abstract: A fan filter unit includes a housing having a side wall and a top wall with a bell mouth serving as an air inlet and an open bottom to which a filtering net is attached to serve as an air outlet. A centrifugal fan is arranged in the housing to drive the air from inlet. The fan assembly has an output port for driving an air flow toward the air outlet. A guide plate is arranged in the housing for guiding the air flow along the path from the fan assembly to the air outlet. A sound-absorbing structure including a plurality of wedge-shaped elements made of a sound-absorbing material is attached to the side wall. The wedge-shaped elements are arranged in a line for effectively reducing noise level caused by the operation of the fan assembly. A second line of wedge-shaped elements is optionally attached to the side wall with the wedge-shaped elements of the two lines alternating each other.

Abstract: A barrier filter for use in an helicopter to remove contaminants from intake air prior to delivery to an engine. The helicopter has an intake and a peripheral external surface adjacent to the intake. The filter includes a pleated filter element mounted flush across the intake such as to meet the contour of the peripheral external surface. The filter element comprises a porous filter media and having a surface area such that a calculated speed of air flowing through the filter, when the engine is operating at take off power (TOP) or military intermediate rated power (IRP), is less than about 30 ft/sec. The filter may be retrofit into helicopters having other contaminant removal systems. Preferably, the filter is positioned such that intake air is delivered to the engine at a pressure which is substantially independent of whether the helicopter is moving in a forward direction or hovering with no forward motion.

  • Patent number: 6485257
Abstract: A top-flow fluid pump that is made from a high-purity fluroplastic material is disclosed. The pump is used to circulate extremely corrosive fluids that are heated to temperatures of 160-180° C. through at least one filtration unit. The pump can be used in a semiconductor etching system. The pump utilizes the driven side of an impeller to generate a suction force that draws the corrosive fluid into a pumping chamber from at least one inlet port. A pedestal support or shaft sleeve, through which a motor drive shaft extends, is modified to create an annular passageway that permits the corrosive fluid to enter the pumping chamber from the inlet. With the inlet design of the present invention, a drive motor seal assembly is no longer subjected to corrosive fluid because the seal assembly is positioned on the suction side of the impeller. In a “dead headed” condition, the corrosive fluid flow stops completely as the fluid within the pumping chamber simply remains in shear.

Abstract: An inlet protector or guard that prevents jamming and clogging of a molten metal pump. The guard includes a flat surface having a central opening that accepts a shaft of the molten metal pump. A wall extends from the periphery of the flat surface along a longitudinal axis of the shaft. The wall is sized to fit within an inlet opening of the pump. The wall includes a plurality of openings, forming an inlet through which molten metal can enter a base of the pump. The plurality of openings are small enough to prevent solid particles that are larger than a distance between an impeller of the pump and a pump chamber from entering the pump and large enough to prevent the pump from clogging.

On the outside perimeter of the outer circular body member a plurality of hinges 26 with paddles 16 are attached thereto that can only open to a pre-determined angle “A” from the wheel 30 that ensures water current 14 is caught by the paddles on only one side of the wheel which causes the wheel to rotate in only one direction.
