Patent number: 10876540Abstract: An electromagnetic rotating apparatus may include an electromagnet winding that consumes power generated during regeneration. A motor voltage monitoring circuit detects that a voltage at a motor driving main circuit is higher than a voltage during normal operation, due to overshoot or the like after arrival at a set speed during deceleration or acceleration of a motor. The motor voltage monitoring circuit transmits a high-voltage detection signal to a braking current adjusting circuit and a magnetic bearing control circuit. Upon receiving the high-voltage detection signal, the braking current adjusting circuit reduces a braking current command value for the motor so as to maintain an excitation voltage for the motor constant or reduce this excitation voltage, and an amplifier control circuit in the magnetic bearing control circuit increases a bias current flowing through an electromagnet winding to increase power consumption.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2013Date of Patent: December 29, 2020Assignee: Edwards Japan LimitedInventor: Hideki Omori

Patent number: 5961291Abstract: A turbo vacuum pump has a rotor and magnetic bearings. The magnetic bearings are held in a housing having a suction port and an exhaust port, and support the rotor rotatably. A peripheral flow pump stage and screw pump stage are formed in the rotor, so that the pressure at the exhaust port can be at or near atmospheric pressure level. Before starting the turbo vacuum pump, the magnetic bearings are operated to displace a rotor position and to scrape off the reaction products which have deposited inside the pump. In addition, before starting the turbo vacuum pump, a stator of the pump is heated up to decrease a binding force of the reaction products. Therefore, the pump can be restarted, even if the rotor has locked by the solidification of deposited reaction products formed during stopping of the pump.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1997Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Seiko Seiki Co., Ltd.Inventors: Seiji Sakagami, Masahiro Mase, Chiaki Urano, Shinji Koyano, Yuichi Kinoshita, Takashi Nagaoka, deceased
