Screw Type Pumping Seal Patents (Class 415/168.3)
  • Patent number: 10309231
Abstract: A non-metallic vertical turbine pump and a method of manufacturing same are provided. In accordance with one embodiment, the vertical turbine pump can include a motor, and a drive shaft coupled to the motor for rotation, a casing with a mixed flow diffuser including a diffuser hub and diffuser vanes that project out from the diffuser hub, and a mixed flow impeller configured to rotatably fit inside the casing, having an impeller hub, impeller vanes, extending from the hub, and a front and a back shroud connected to opposing ends of the impeller vanes. At least one of the mixed flow impeller and the mixed flow diffuser can be made of a non-metallic material and is a singular homogenous component.

  • Patent number: 8109721
Abstract: A bearing arrangement for a turbine rotor of a turbine is adapted to be mounted in a drill string and to be driven by the flow of drilling fluid. The bearing arrangement includes a turbine chamber surrounding the turbine rotor and having an inflow and an outflow, a stator on which the turbine rotor is rotatably mounted, and a cavity formed between the turbine rotor and the stator and accommodating at least one radial plain bearing and being separated from the turbine chamber by an axial plain bearing constructed as a bearing ring seal and by a conveyor screw which is disposed on the turbine rotor and operates to convey from the cavity to the turbine chamber.

  • Patent number: 7766605
Abstract: The present invention relates to a centrifugal pump for pumping of liquids containing pollutions mainly in the form of solid particles, which pump comprises a drive unit, a hydraulic unit, whereby the hydraulic unit comprises a pump housing (20) and a pump impeller (12) rotationally arranged inside the housing, the pump impeller comprising an upper (14) and a lower (16) cover disc and a number of intermediate vanes (18). The invention is characterised in that a bottom wall (22) of the pump housing, having a central inlet opening (24), is arranged with at least one spirally extending back flow affecting means (32, 34) on the side facing the lower cover disc extending parts of or full turns around the inlet opening.

Abstract: A hydrodynamic machine such as an agitator or a pump has a seal at the fluid medium side in the form of a sliding ring in a coaxial opening in the impeller wheel hub. To prevent particle deposits and blockages in the region of the seal the hub engages into a pot-shaped opening in the housing, forming a conical outwardly enlarging annular gap. Formed on the outside of the hub is a spiral means which when the hub rotates produces a fluid flow outwardly of the annular gap to counteract a deposit of contaminating matter such as particles and fibers from the fluid in the annular gap and thus also at the seal.
