Including Serial Radial Flow Blade Sets And Intermediate Stationary Flow Diverter(s) Patents (Class 415/199.1)
  • Patent number: 11898469
Abstract: A reaction turbine operates on the heat released from the condensation of steam, combined with inherent steam pressure and temperature heads. A series of rotors, each containing multiple curved internal channels, provide compressive boosts between successive stages, while avoiding excessive self-compression. Compressive effects and shock waves generated within these channels provide high levels of condensation, thereby releasing immense amounts of heat. The resulting hot vapor and condensate droplets are then ejected tangentially at the periphery of the rotors to generate thrust. The exhaust steam from the last stage is then compressed and returned to the engine inlet to be mixed with the incoming fresh steam, thereby efficiently completing the system cycle without the need of large cooling towers for condensation.

Abstract: A centrifugal pump has a gas accumulation reduction system to reduce the risk of gas locking caused by the accumulation of gas at the inlet of the impeller. The gas accumulation reduction system includes: (i) one or more diffuser ports extending through the hub of a diffuser; and (ii) one or more recirculation passages extending through the hub of an impeller. The recirculation passages are in fluid communication with the one or more diffuser ports to permit the recirculation of a portion of pumped fluid through the stage. Additionally, a centrifugal pump that includes at least one turbomachinery stage. The stage includes a rotatable impeller that has an impeller hub with a centrally disposed eye and a plurality of impeller vanes. The impeller is variously configured to encourage mixing of two-phase fluids at the eye of the impeller hub.

Coaxially stacked rotating impellers and stationary diffusers are coaxially housed within the pump. Radial ports are formed in a hub of the diffusers that direct fluid pressurized by an impeller to a cavity formed on the shroud of the impeller. Axial ports are formed in the shrouds of the impellers that direct fluid from the cavity to a fluid flow passage within the impeller. Strategic placement and sizing of the radial and axial ports balances thrust forces exerted onto the impeller.

Abstract: A centrifugal pumping system having a stack of impellers and diffusers for pressurizing fluid. The impellers are rotated by a motor for pressurizing and lifting fluid from within a wellbore. Undulating profiles are provided on leading edges of the impellers for inducing turbulence in the fluid being pumped. Increasing turbulence better homogenizes the fluid, so that choked flow is avoided when different density components are present in the fluid. Reducing the possibility of choked flow increases pump efficiency and lift capacity.
