Abstract: A method and apparatus to improve air flow in an air circulating fan assembly by forming an inlet opening in a fan assembly. A static air pressure profile is calculated along a top portion of the fan assembly configured to operate in an enclosure. The shape of a section of the inlet opening in the top portion of the fan assembly is changed based on a pressure contour of the calculated static air pressure profile. The method is repeated iteratively one or more times using an inlet opening changed by a previously calculated static air pressure profile when calculating a subsequent static air pressure profile. The inlet opening is positioned in the top surface of the fan assembly so that the centroid of the inlet opening is laterally offset with respect to the rotational axis of an impeller in the fan assembly.

Abstract: Provided is an air blower for an air conditioner. The air blower for the air conditioner includes a centrifugal fan and a fan housing. The fan housing covers the centrifugal fan, and forms a scroll-type flow path having a varying cross-sectional area and guiding air forcibly blown by the centrifugal fan to an outlet. Here, a bottom surface of the scroll-type flow path inclines and is thinnest near a region where the scroll-type flow path ends. The thickness of the bottom surface progressively increases along a straight line running from a region where the bottom surface is thinnest to an opposite outer side of the scroll-type flow path through a center of the centrifugal fan.

Abstract: A turbine apparatus is immersed in an ambient stream of a flowing fluid, such as water, so as to encapture a portion of the flowing fluid and extract power therefrom, before returning it back into the ambient stream, which may be a tidal flow of ocean water, or a relative flow of water behind a boat. The apparatus includes a converging intake duct with an inlet opening that faces forward into the ambient stream flow, a spiral volute casing that redirects the fluid into a spiral flow, a rotor arranged coaxially on the spiral axis, and an exhaust duct that diverges and curves from an exhaust inlet coaxial with the spiral axis to an exhaust outlet that opens rearwardly into the ambient flow. The rotor has a peripheral rotor inlet around the circumference of a first stage thereof and an axial rotor outlet at one axial end thereof, and is arranged with its rotor axis coinciding with the spiral axis oriented transverse to the ambient stream flow.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an air conditioner for a vehicle, which includes coupling portions formed on both sides of a scroll case, a connection cover coupled to one coupling portion and having an inlet ring and a dual ring, a motor housing coupled to the other coupling portion of the scroll case, air holes respectively formed on faces at the same height as both sides of a discharge part of the scroll case, and a blocking portion formed on the connection cover to close one of the air holes. The air conditioner can reduce investment costs, development expenses and the development period of time because all parts excepting an intake duct can be used commonly in RHDs (Right Handle Drives) and LHDs (Left Handle Drives) and can reduce a loss of air volume because air holes for cooling a motor are formed at positions to minimize resistance of the air discharged from a scroll case.
