Having Means To Hold Or Resist Movement Of Pumping Element Patents (Class 417/214)
  • Patent number: 11708057
Abstract: A piston pump for pumping a pressure medium in an electronically slip-controllable vehicle brake system includes a pressure-medium control valve configured to control a throughflow direction in a pressure medium circuit. The pressure-medium control valve has a valve housing, a valve seat, and a valve-closing body that is received in the valve housing in an axially movable and radially guided manner. The valve-closing body is configured to control the valve seat according to the prevailing pressure ratios upstream and downstream of the valve seat. The valve seat is configured as a single component with the valve housing. The pressure-medium control valve is produced by forming in a compact and cost-effective manner. The pressure-medium control valve operates quietly and is configured to be used alternatively as an independent unit that is configured to be tested prior to use.

  • Patent number: 10890166
Abstract: A non-pulsation pump is provided with: a cam mechanism that converts the rotational motion of a shared motor into reciprocal motion having a prescribed phase difference; a plurality of cross heads that make reciprocal motion with a prescribed phase difference through the cam mechanism; and a plurality of reciprocating pumps that are driven with a prescribed phase difference and that include plungers connected to the cross heads, wherein the total discharge flowrate toward a shared discharge pipe is kept constant. This non-pulsation pump includes a preliminary compression step for moving the plungers of the reciprocating pumps to a discharge side by very small amounts before a discharging step but after a suction step, and has a stroke adjustment mechanism for adjusting the effective stroke length of the plunger in the preliminary compression step. Thus, generation of pulsation can be suppressed even when the set pressure changes.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are provided for protectively covering an air inlet or outlet of an air-moving assembly. The apparatus includes a protective cover assembly, which includes a retractable cover and a spring-biasing mechanism. The retractable cover transitions between a retracted state, when the air-moving assembly is operatively positioned within the chassis, and in extended state, when the air-moving assembly is withdrawn from the chassis. In retracted state, the retractable cover is retracted away from the air inlet or outlet, and in extended state, the retractable cover covers, at least partially, the air inlet or outlet. The spring-biasing mechanism is coupled to the retractable cover and biases the retractable cover in the extended state when the air-moving assembly is withdrawn from the chassis, and compresses to allow transition of the retractable cover to the retracted state as the air-moving assembly is inserted into operative position within the chassis.

  • Patent number: 10036369
Abstract: A piston pump for a traction-controlled hydraulic vehicle braking system includes a pump piston and an annular piston that is arranged as a second piston in a resiliently loaded manner on the pump piston. As the delivery pressure increases, a resilient element is compressed and a stroke of the second piston is shortened so as to reduce a delivery quantity. This configuration enables a higher delivery pressure to be achieved for a given driving force. With low delivery pressure, the pump piston and the second piston deliver together so as to achieve a rapid build-up of pressure.

Abstract: A number of embodiments are disclosed in which scroll compressor elements are actuated upon a particular condition being sensed within the scroll compressor. Upon the condition being sensed, elements are actuated which restrict the orbit radius of the orbiting scroll. In this way, conditions such as low charge, reverse rotation, and low suction pressure are encountered with little damage to the scroll compressor.

Abstract: A pump drive head includes a housing, and a main shaft carried on upper and lower bearings disposed in the housing. The main shaft includes an outer torque tube and a liner tube. The outer and liner tubes abut along a first portion of their length and are separated along a second portion of their length forming a double wall with an elongate tubular space in between. A standpipe is coupled at one end to the housing, below the lower bearing, and received by the elongate tubular space an eliminates the need for a lower seal on the main shaft. A hydraulic pump includes a hydraulic pump chamber displosed in the housing and communicating with the main shaft, and first and second gears disposed in the hydraulic pump chamber and the first gear coupled to the main shaft. The second gear intermeshes with the first gear. A suction port is located between the first and second gears and operable when the main shaft is rotated in a reverse direction from the normal pumping direction, during a condition known as backspin.

  • Patent number: 6016691
Abstract: A module for an on-board evaporative emission leak detection system that detects leakage from an evaporative emission space of an automotive vehicle fuel system, and corresponding method that calibrates a leak detection module pump to set a desired stroke of a moveable wall in the pump of such evaporative emission leak detection system. A pump disposed within interior space of the module has an inlet in communication with the interior space and an outlet that communicates through a flow passage with the evaporative emission space. A vent valve within the interior space is selectively operable to a first state that vents the flow passage to the interior space of the module, thereby venting the evaporative emission space to atmosphere, and to a second state that does not vent the flow passage to the interior space. An electromechanical actuator within the interior space operates the pump and the vent valve by respective magnetically responsive levers.

Abstract: A scroll-type machine is disclosed which is particularly well suited for use as a compressor in refrigeration and air conditioning systems and incorporates a unique arrangement for modulating the capacity thereof. In one group of embodiments the capacity of the scroll-type machine is modulated by relative axial movement between the scroll members so as to form a leakage path across the wrap tips and opposed end plates. In another group of embodiments, modulation is achieved by reducing the orbital radius of one of the scroll members to thereby form a leakage path across the flank surfaces of the wraps. Both types of scroll separation may be accomplished in a time pulsed manner to thereby enable a full range of modulation with the duration of the loading and unloading periods being selected to maximize the efficiency of the overall system.

  • Patent number: 5378112
Abstract: A primary vane pump has a rotor with vanes, and an intermediate casing, which is also rotatable, both mounted in a fixed housing. The rotor vanes are enclosed in the casing and provide a primary pumping stage. The rotatable intermediate casing has outer vanes enclosed within the fixed housing, which provide a governor stage vane pump when the casing rotates. An inlet annulus supplies fuel to passages in the rotatable casing leading to the primary pumping stage and other passages in the rotatable casing conduct pumped fluid out to a discharge annulus. A closed fluid loop is established from discharge annulus to the governor stage vane pump, out through a valve and back to the discharge annulus. The reaction on the casing caused by the primary pump rotor tends to rotate the intermediate casing, while pressure drop through the valve in the closed fluid loop resists rotation. Adjustment of the valve adjusts rotational speed of the intermediate casing and varies the delivery rate of fuel by the primary vane pump.

  • Patent number: 5358036
Abstract: A relatively simple hydraulically operated disc brake mechanism for drive systems which store reactive torque by reason of being under torsion is disclosed. Certain drive systems such as the drive strings for deep well submersible pumps store considerable reactive torque due to torsional stresses. Such torque must be controllably released if drive power is interrupted. The disc brake mechanism includes a housing that defines a reservoir for lubricating oil for the bearings of a shaft that drives a bi-directional hydraulic pump. When the shaft turns in an operating direction, the pump pumps the lubricating oil in a closed circuit through a filter and back to the reservoir. If normal operation is interrupted and the reactive torque in the system is released, the bi-directional pump forces oil through a control manifold to a disc brake caliper which brakes a disc rotor attached to the shaft. The faster the shaft turns as it releases reactive torque, the more braking force applied.
