  • Patent number: 5496133
Abstract: A water table lowering assembly includes a discharge line connected to a submersible pump. At least two brackets are secured along the length of the discharge line. A cable is connected at one end to the submersible pump. The cable extends parallel to the discharge line and is connected to the at least two brackets spaced along the discharge line. The opposite end of the cable from the end connected to the pump is formed into a loop through which a hook secured to a backhoe or other lifting apparatus is secured. The backhoe lifts the assembly of the pump and discharge line into a vertical orientation so as to lower the pump, followed by a succeeding length of discharge line, through the opening of a manhole and into a collection basin. Water collected in the collection basin is evacuated by the submersible pump so as to lower the water table surrounding the collection basin.

  • Patent number: 5364233
Abstract: A irrigation pump apparatus includes an elongated frame having a proximate end portion and a distal end portion. An elongated drive shaft extends along the frame and to the proximal and distal end portions. The drive shaft is adapted to be driven by a piece of farm machinery, such as a tractor having a power take off connectable to the drive shaft. A pump housing mounted at the distal end portion of the frame carries an impeller that rotates with the drive shaft during use. The pump housing has an impeller that provides an improved configuration with enhanced efficiency. The housing includes a baffle portion supported within the housing and adjacent the discharge outlet and having an upper end portion positioned adjacent a transversely side wall portion of the housing. The baffle forms an acute angle of about forty degrees to eighty degrees (40.degree.-80.degree. ) with the adjacent transversely extending side wall portion of the housing and is generally perpendicular to the opposite portion of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5318317
Abstract: An air pump for use with a chain-driven bicycle having a freewheel. The pump assembly comprises a pair of opposed cylinders and a double-ended piston rod mounted in a housing. The piston rod has a bearing slot which engages a crank pin on a crankshaft which is driven by a sprocket. Rotation of the sprocket reciprocates the double-ended piston rod in the cylinders. A hook-shaped extension of the housing fits over the top of the chain stay of the bicycle, and a vertically movable clamping member provided with a ratchet mechanism abuts the underside of the chain stay; a lever operated cam clamps the chain stay intermediate the hook portion and the clamping member. The lower run of the bicycle drive chain engages the drive sprocket of the pump assembly. Reverse rotation of the bicycle's crank assembly causes the conventional freewheel to also rotate in a reverse direction without rotating the wheel of the bicycle.

  • Patent number: 5226801
Abstract: The present invention relates to a shock absorber pump/compressor which comprises attachments to the car's chassis and to the wheel axle housing; a rack gear that is set into a reciprocating motion as the car runs on the uneven surface of the road; a pinion gear that is rotated back and forth by the rack gear; a crank that is attached fixedly to the shaft of the pinion gear and which sets a double piston to move in a reciprocating manner. A diaphragm is attached to each piston head and the periphery of each diaphragm is clamped tightly between the cylinder and a cylinder head. The interior of each cylinder head and a diaphragm form a contractive and expansive space which draws in fluid from an outside source as the space expands and forces the fluid out as the space contracts. At the same time as fluid is drawn into one contractive/expansive space, fluid is forced out of the other space at the other end of the double piston.

  • Patent number: 5137430
Abstract: An air pump which can be stored in the frame of the bicycle and can also serve as the seat post of the bicycle. The air pump has an outer, tubular post having an upper end to which a bicycle seat can be secured. A rigid tube extends partially into the post and carries a diaphragm on its inner end. The diaphragm is engageable with the inner surface of the post and compresses air in an air chamber in advance of the diaphragm when the diaphragm moves toward a closed end of the post. A flexible tube of relatively small diameter extends through a part of the rigid tube. The flexible tube has one end communicating with the air chamber and the other end is outside the rigid tube and is adapted to be coupled to a tire valve for inflating the tire. The flexible tube is of such small diameter and flexibility that no check valve is needed.

  • Patent number: 5127804
Abstract: Air pumps particularly suitable for use with bicycles includes a first elongated tube to form a pump chamber and housing, a second elongated tube coupled with a piston in the first tube to reciprocate the piston within the pump chamber. A flexible hose extends from the piston and through the second tube and has at its exposed end an air valve coupling. The first and second tubes are releasably secured to permit use of the pump as a seat post. The pump includes a first valve on the outside of the piston between atmosphere and a closed end of the pump chamber and a second valve inside the piston between the closed end of the chamber and the flexible hose. The first valve is configured to provide greater seal effect as pressure builds in the closed end of the pump chamber.

Abstract: A compressor cooling system is provided for use with an engine PTO driven oil-flooded air compressor. The compressor cooling system includes an oil flow path from the compressor oil outlet, through an oil/coolant heat exchanger, and to the compressor oil inlet. The system further includes a coolant flow path in fluid communication with the engine cooling system with the oil/coolant heat exchanger interposed in the coolant flow path. Thus, coolant flowing through the engine cooling path also flows through the oil/coolant heat exchanger in heat transfer relation with the compressor oil flowing therethrough. The compressor coolant flow path is integrated into the engine cooling system so that flow through the compressor coolant flow path is not interrupted by operation of the thermostatic bypass valve in the engine cooling system.

  • Patent number: 4375943
Abstract: A portable pump for displacing water having a frame supported by ground contacting wheels for transport, an elongated tubular conduit with an impeller mounted therein and a drive shaft with one end connected to the impeller and the other end having a non complex universal bearing joint for detachably coupling directly to a driving motor shaft of a farm tractor or other prime mover. The drive shaft exits the tubular conduit on the underside so that the angle between the driving motor shaft and impellar drive shaft is at a minimum angle when the tubular conduit inlet end is tilted below horizontal in order to submerge the inlet end of the conduit into the water from the edge of a steep irrigation bank. This enables the portable pump with the non complex universal bearing joining to be backed onto the bank of a water source such as an irregation canal, stream, or lake. A casing around the drive shaft allows the shaft to become embedded into the crest of the bank allowing the inlet portion to be submerged.
