Rotary Parallel Axis Type Patents (Class 417/336)
  • Patent number: 10815965
Abstract: The multi-piston bladeless wind turbine creates electrical energy using hydraulically connected pistons. The system may include a disk, a small piston in fluid communication with a large piston, and a crankshaft attached to the large piston. The disk transfers forces from the wind to the small piston. Hydraulic fluid then transfers the forces to the larger piston. When the disk and associated small piston have been forced to the end of their stroke by the wind, a gate in the disk is opened to reduce wind force on the disk by allowing air to travel through the disk. Subsequently, the disk and associated small piston are pushed back to the beginning of the stroke by the pressure created by the large piston's weight. This process is repeated by closing the gate in the disk. A crankshaft powering an electric generator is turned by the movement of the large piston.

  • Patent number: 9057357
Abstract: A split collar mountable turbine is assembled in two separate halves and circumferentially attachable around existing structures. Top and bottom attachment rings each comprise first and second arcuate elements adapted to interconnect circumferentially about an axis to form two rings formed in spaced relation. A fan blade housing ring adapted to interface into complimentary slots within the top and bottom rings is received in complimentary slots and moves in tracks located in the top and bottom rings by magnetic levitation. The turbine further includes two pair of off-axis electrical generators each having rotating gears driven by rotation of said fan blade housing for producing electricity. A series of set screws and set guides affixed to the top and bottom rings can be adjusted to engage and be supported by a structure that is collared in the open center of the cylindrical wind turbine.

  • Patent number: 7944075
Abstract: An energy storage system, and related method, comprises a plurality of wind turbines, each with a vertical shaft that passes through a support platform. One or more braces may be affixed to each vertical shaft at one end of this platform, at an angle of less than 60 degrees, preferably about 45 degrees. At least one heavily weighted device is configured and disposed to be raised with rotation of the wind turbine about its vertical shaft. The subsequent lowering of that weighted device generates electrical energies for immediate use. Alternatively, the weighted device may be suspended for storage of energy and subsequent use. Preferred embodiments include at least one energy storage system for holding excess unused energy. Representative devices include a weighted cylinder on a shaft or cable, and one or more railcars on a series of inclined tracks.

  • Publication number: 20090293469
Abstract: A hydraulic power generation system driven by compression air produced by fluid is provided. The present invention is featured in that it employs more than one group of windmills which can be driven by wind power, or utilizes hydraulic power, such as a river flow, tides at estuaries or bays to drive more than one group of hydraulic turbines. The rotation power of the windmills or the hydraulic turbines then drives a transmission and subsequently drives an air compressor to produce compression air. The compression air is compressed with a specific pressure and collectively stored in an air compression tank. The compression air stored in the air compression tank is guided to a water filled hermetic tank. The hermetic tank is connected with a hermetic water tower having a certain height, in which the hermetic tanks and the hermetic water tower are connected with a communicating pipe by which a pressure can be conducted.

  • Patent number: 4718825
Abstract: A pump stroke is matched to the operating speed of a high speed windmill. The windmill drives a hydraulic pump for a control. Changes in speed of a wind driven shaft open supply and exhaust valves to opposite ends of a hydraulic actuator to lengthen and shorten an oscillating arm thereby lengthening and shortening the stroke of an output pump. Diminishing wind to a stall speed causes the valves to operate the hydraulic cylinder to shorten the oscillating arm to zero. A pressure accumulator in the hydraulic system provides the force necessary to supply the hydraulic fluid under pressure to drive the actuator into and out of the zero position in response to the windmill shaft speed approaching and exceeding windmill stall speed.

  • Patent number: 4507060
Abstract: This windmill head comprises a stub tower having a rotatable platform carrying a wind driven fan which drives a transmission mechanism. The mechanism has two cranks and pitman arms at opposite sides driving two rocking beams carrying counterweights. One beam is coupled to a vertical pump rod by non-rigid members to reciprocate the pump rod. The counterweights assist the beams in pulling up the pump rod and pumped load. A tail assembly tracks the wind by rotating the platform so that the fan faces the wind. The fan furls out of the wind when wind speed is excessive. A power unit may drive the transmission mechanism when wind speed is too low and high to drive the fan. The platform is carried by bearings which prevent vertical movement of the platform and components on it while the pump rod is being pulled up and pushed down, and while the counterweights are raised and lowered. The power unit can generate electric power when the wind speed is high enough to drive the fan.

  • Patent number: 4049066
Abstract: An apparatus adapted to be connected in a drill string is disclosed. It utilizes an axially located turbine which is driven by the mud flow through the drill string. The turbine is supported by a shaft and connected to an appropriate gear train. The gear train rotates an outer sleeve which has multiple turns of an external screw thereon. The screw or helix extends toward the wall of the drill bore. The helix lifts the column of mud in the annular space above the drill bit away from the drill bit thereby reducing the back pressure just above the drill bit. This improves the jetting action of the mud pumped through the drill bit and provides for a more rapid excavation of the immediate vicinity, thereby increasing the rate of penetration of the drill bit.
