A drive system is coupled to the drive side shaft and transfers power from the motor to the airend. The drive system is a belt and pulley system, and the airend is pivoted with respect to the motor to adjust belt tension. The impeller is coupled to the non-drive side shaft.

Abstract: A centrifugal blower is provided which incorporates a self-contained air cooling system. The blower includes a drive assembly connected to a drive motor and disposed within a housing having inlet and outlet apertures. A centrifugal compressor is connected to the drive assembly and disposed exteriorly to the housing adjacent to the outlet apertures. Rotation of a drive pulley, including a fan, by the drive motor causes air to enter the housing through the inlet apertures, flow over components of the drive assembly, and exit through the outlet apertures. A spindle assembly having a rigid bearing arrangement is also provided. One or more bearing elements are disposed at opposite ends of a spacer and between a shaft and housing of the spindle assembly. Such rigid pre-loaded bearing arrangement eliminates “unloading” concerns, and allows load sharing between bearing elements.

Abstract: This invention provides the use of a pump to regulate torque in a planetary gear system. The pump is provided with a moveable piston as an end plate. An actuator, attached to the piston, controls the movement of the piston. In one position, the piston is in contact with the internal components of the pump. When the actuator moves the piston, the piston loses contact with the pump, thus allowing a free flow of fluid between the inlet and outlet of the pump. In this configuration, the pump is no longer able to generate the pressure that creates torque in the planetary gear system.

Abstract: A fluid coupling is provided between a pump shaft of a water pump and a water pump pulley and includes a liquid chamber formed inside housings and filled with a fluid, and a rotor fixed to the pump shaft and housed in the liquid chamber. When the housings connected to a crank pulley via an endless belt rotate, the rotor is dragged by the viscosity of the fluid and the pump shaft rotates. Since the fluid coupling has the property of decreasing the rate of increase in the output rotational speed of the fluid coupling as the input rotational speed increases, the required rotational speed of the water pump can be guaranteed when the rotational speed of the engine is low, and the water pump can be prevented from rotating excessively when the rotational speed of the engine is high.
