Relatively Movable Pumping Members Patents (Class 417/419)
  • Patent number: 4252506
Abstract: A variable capacity compressor for refrigeration systems such as air conditioners and heat pumps comprising an outer casing having a lubricant sump in the lower portion thereof, a crankcase internally spring mounted within the outer casing and having a pair of parallel, vertical crankshafts rotatably supported therein, wherein the crankshafts are arranged in side-by-side relationship, and at least two expansible chamber pumps, which may be piston, rotary or screw type, driven by the crankshafts. A pair of independently controlled electric motors have their rotors drivingly connected to the crankshafts, and in one embodiment of the invention, the motors have a common stator with two independently controlled sets of windings. In a further embodiment of the invention, two crankcases are provided, sharing a common lubricant sump.

  • Patent number: 4200426
Abstract: A hermetic compressor assembly is disclosed wherein a motor-compressor unit is supported in a hermetically sealed chamber so as to permit at least limited rotation thereof about an axis which may coincide with the axis of the drive shaft of the compressor. In order to limit such rotation, at least a first leaf spring member is provided affixed to one of the interior wall of the chamber and the motor-compressor unit, which member cooperates with abutment means affixed to the other of said interior wall and motor compressor unit whereby, upon rotation of the motor-compressor unit about said axis, engagement between the abutment means and the leaf spring member results in deflection thereof so as to limit such rotation.

  • Patent number: 4152956
Abstract: An improved vehicle driven air conditioning compressor having a rotatable crankshaft and eccentric reciprocating pistons in which there is provided a spring system connected to the eccentric in such a manner that peak valves of torque during compression are minimized.

  • Patent number: 4127360
Abstract: Pumping apparatus which incorporates connected piston type positive displacement, slip free pumps is disclosed. They provide pumped outputs at a common displacement rate. They run out of phase to one another so that while one is pumping, the other is able to refill. A three way valve under control of a pressure responsive switch delivers pumped fluid to the down stream outlet when a pressure match is achieved. The apparatus finds application as a constant rate continuous fluid injection pump.

  • Patent number: 4089624
Abstract: A pumping system for dispensing controlled and variable amounts of fluids in predetermined quantities includes a pump piston which moves axially in a pump chamber. The piston is reciprocated by a drive lead nut cooperating with a non-rotatable lead screw attached to the piston. The piston is sealed to the pump chamber by a seal element whose distance from the lead nut is fixed regardless of the position of the piston, thus protecting the seal. The rotatably driven lead nut includes a hollow driven shaft, containing lubricant, so that the lead screw is lubricated as it travels into the shaft of the lead nut. The motor for the system is a pulse operated reversible stepping motor enabling accurate output from the pump, for example, between .01 ml/min to 9.99 ml/min as controlled by the stepping motor. One motor may drive two pumps for a continuous controlled pumping system. If desired a flush mechanism may be used to rinse the piston of any pumped material which adheres to the surface.

  • Patent number: 4033707
Abstract: A motor driven refrigeration compressor having a cylinder head and base of laminated construction. The laminations are formed from flat sheet stock with apertures which define inlet and outlet ports and passages for refrigerant flow. The base is bell shaped and the enclosed end contains integral inlet ports and passages which direct refrigerant past the motor and into the compressor. The base walls contain integral outlet passages which convey the refrigerant from the compressor to an outlet tube in communication with a condenser. Both the inlet and outlet passages contain noise reducing cavities which decrease the effect of the pulsations inherent in a piston-type compressor.
