Abstract: In an axial fan including a motor, a substrate that connects the ends of a plurality of coils is disposed at a position axially under the bottom portion of a case with an axial gap therebetween. A spacer is interposed between the substrate and the bottom portion, and the substrate is fixed to the spacer. A plurality of through holes provided in the bottom portion are disposed in axial alignment with a plurality of through holes provided in the spacer. An air flow produced by rotation of an impeller at least partially passes through the interior of the case to be discharged to the outside of the case through the through holes in the bottom portion and in the spacer so that heat generated inside the motor can be efficiently transferred to the outside of the case.

Abstract: A pump for washing appliance is described. The pump has a pump casing in which an impeller is located. The pump casing has an inlet and outlet, and an inlet conduit extending from the inlet at a small angle above the horizontal. The ceiling includes a downwardly extending dividing wall section extending radially from a central location to a side wall of the casing. The dividing wall is positioned between the inlet outlet. The ceiling incorporates a ramped surface rising around the central location, between the outlet side and the inlet side of the dividing wall. The ramped surface is higher adjacent the inlet side than the outlet side of the dividing wall section so that when the impeller is not rotating, air inside the pump chamber will rise up the ramped surface through the inlet and up the inlet conduit.

  • Patent number: 8356969
Abstract: Pumping units are known to have an inlet channel, opening out into a pumping channel and tapering from an inlet cross section to an outlet into the pumping channel with an outlet cross-section. The flow is deflected through ninety degrees on entry to the pumping channel which induces strong swirling. The transition from the inlet channel into the pumping channel is not optimal for flow. This effect reduces the efficiency of the pumping unit. The inlet flow into the pumping channel is improved in the pumping unit according to the invention and hence efficiency is improved. According to the invention, the outlet is essentially provided in a first quadrant with relation to the inlet cross section and the tapering of the inlet channel essentially occurs in the other three quadrants. The tapering wall of the inlet channel is formed by a plane-generating shape which goes around from one side of the outlet to the other side of the outlet and is shaped to be increasingly flat relative to a plane of the outlet.
