Piston-type Sensor Patents (Class 417/44.8)
  • Patent number: 7656305
Abstract: There is disclosed a monitoring system for monitoring alignment of a piston rod assembly of a reciprocating pump, such as those used to pump drilling mud in the oil and gas exploration and production industry. In one embodiment, a monitoring system is disclosed which is for a reciprocating pump (10) of a type comprising a fluid end component (20), a power end component (18), and a piston rod assembly (12) extending between the fluid and power end components. The monitoring system includes a number of sensors (52, 74) coupled to the piston rod assembly, for providing an output indicative that the piston rod assembly is experiencing bending stress, which occurs in the event that the piston rod assembly becomes misaligned, in use of the pump.

  • Patent number: 7335001
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for controlling an operation of a reciprocating compressor can improve efficiency of a compressor by reconciling an operation frequency with a mechanical resonant frequency. The apparatus includes a mechanical resonant frequency calculating unit for calculating mechanical resonant frequency, using a current applied to a compressor and a stroke; an operation frequency reference value determining unit for determining an operation frequency reference value within a predetermined range of the calculated mechanical resonant frequency; and a controller for comparing the determined operation frequency and a current operation frequency, and then variably controlling an operation frequency of the compressor according to the comparison result, so that stroke feedback or TDC feedback can be controlled more accurately. Accordingly, an operational efficiency of the compressor is improved.

  • Patent number: 6685438
Abstract: In an operation control apparatus of a compressor, a current, a voltage an d a TDC, etc. applied to a compressor are detected, a speed and a TDC are constantly controlled so as to place an operation point of the compressor within a high efficiency operation region by using a phase difference between each detected values (for example, a phase difference between the current and the voltage), and an operation frequency is varied according to a load variation, accordingly an operation efficiency of the compressor can be improved.
