  • Patent number: 10132308
Abstract: Metering systems and methods are disclosed. A metering system is part of a larger fluidics sub-system that includes a flexible reservoir for storing insulin and a cannula assembly for delivering the insulin into sub-cutaneous tissue. The metering system draws a small dose of fluid from the reservoir and then pushes it down the cannula line and into the patient. The fluid dose is small relative to the reservoir volume, such that many pump strokes are required to completely empty the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 8702405
Abstract: A pump cartridge which has a polymer shell with moveable cores inserted from each end. The polymer shell contains perpendicular passages along the top for connection of fluid supply and prime chambers. Statically mounted elastomers adjacent to perpendicular passages provide sealing around movable cores. Fluid moves by translation within the pump cartridge by filling the cavity volume between the oblate ends of the moveable cores with a liquid and matching the rotation angle and translation position of advancing left moveable core with retreating right moveable core, maintaining equivalent volume. Both moveable cores can be directed toward one another or one moveable core can remain stationary while the other advances to extrude fluid. Pump cartridge rotation changes the angle of the fluid exit passage.

Abstract: A volumetric pump comprises at least one piston inside a cylindrical housing and means to cause a relative to-and-fro linear movement between the cylindrical housing and the piston in order to produce a stroke of the volumetric pump. This pump further comprises a bi-directional angular rotatable disc acting as a valve which connects alternately at least one inlet port and at least one outlet port to a least one pump chamber located inside the housing, and a driving mechanism arranged to dissociate at least partially the bi-directional angular movement of the rotatable disc with the to-and-fro linear movement of the housing. This driving mechanism is arranged such that the rotatable disc reaches an angular position at which it opens and/or closes the inlet and/or outlet ports when there is no relative to-and-fro linear movement between the cylindrical housing and the piston.

  • Patent number: 7887308
Abstract: A volumetric pump (1) comprising a piston (2) and a cylindrical chamber (3), contains an inlet port (10) and an outlet port (11). The piston (2) is actuated by a rotor (5) bearing an eccentric shaft (6). The shaft (6), being connected to the piston (2), causes the piston to slide back and forth inside the cylinder chamber (3) while having a bidirectional angular movement. • Patent number: 4797073
Abstract: A plunger pump has a plunger adapted to slide in the axial direction and rotate by a combination of worm and worm wheel. A cylindrical pump body has an axial extension at one free end through which a control pin extends upwardly at a right angle relative to the extension, while the plunger carried on the pump in a cantilever fashion has an inclined end face cam, an adjustment cam and a worm wheel on the same side as the axial extension. The worm wheel meshes with a worm directly connected to a crankshaft of an engine and the crankshaft is not held on the pump body. As the crankshaft is rotated, the plunger is caused to rotate by meshing engagement of the worm and the worm wheel and at the same time slide in the pump body by contact of the end face cam with the control pin whereby liquid held in the pump chamber is discharged from the delivery port.
