Further, the present invention relates to a device and methods for titrating and delivering such medications in a semi-automated or fully automated manner and which can be monitoring and controlled remotely. Even still further, the present invention relates to such a device that can perform the titration and delivery of medication in a manner that minimalizes occlusion and prevents back flow of the medication. More particularly, the present invention relates to a device for titration and delivery of medication using a non-concentric pumping mechanism that gradual or progressively increases and decreases occlusion in the medication delivery line within the pump to minimize and/or prevent sudden formation and release of occlusion in order to provide more steady and continuous flow of the medication through the device to the subject.

The cultureware module is removably attached to the instrumentation base device. Cells are introduced into the cell growth chamber and a source of medium is fluidly attached to the cultureware module. Operating parameters are programmed into the microprocessor control. The pump is operated to circulate the medium through the cell growth chamber to grow cells or cell products therein. The grown cells or cell products are harvested from the cell growth chamber and the cultureware module is then disposed.

    Abstract: The pump is provided with a plurality of pumping chambers and electrically activatable valves. An elastic membrane is arranged in each pumping chamber and divides the same into a first and a second chamber section. Each valve is connected to the second chamber section of a pumping chamber. When a pressure drop is applied over the valve and the valve is activated (i.e. opened), the pressure in the second chamber section changes, which causes the membrane to move, which in turn leads to a change of the volumes of both chamber sections. This e.g. allows to pump well-defined amounts of fluid from the chamber sections to a drug dispensing device.

    Abstract: A two-stage membrane pump having a first pump head and a second pump head is provided. The pump heads are typically crank operated with a camshaft set up such that one pump head is in exhaust mode and the other in inlet mode, and vice-versa, during operation. The membrane and the inlet and outlet valves of the pump heads are designed to work together, along with each pump head working synchronously such that the inlet of the second pump head and exhaust of the first pump head are sealed by the actions of the two membranes. As a result an inlet valve in the second pump head is not needed. The costs of such a pump are thereby reduced while increasing the reliability of the two-stage pump.
