Fluid Conduit For One Chamber Extends Through Portion Of Another Patents (Class 417/528)
  • Patent number: 9822777
Abstract: A hydraulic pumping assembly provides reciprocating motion to a sucker rod string coupled to a downhole pump. The pumping assembly includes a hydraulic cylinder, a cylinder rod, a telescoping cylinder sleeve for increasing the effective stroke length, and a cylinder base positioned below the hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder includes a cylinder barrel, a cylinder head, a piston, and a port configured to direct hydraulic fluid to and from the cylinder barrel. The piston is coupled to the cylinder rod at an upper end of the rod. The cylinder rod slides within the cylinder sleeve, which passes slideably through the cylinder head. The cylinder sleeve moves between an extended position and a retracted position as the piston reciprocates within the cylinder barrel. The cylinder base accommodates the cylinder rod and the telescoping cylinder sleeve in a collapsed position.

  • Patent number: 6589027
Abstract: A double-acting reciprocating motor with a uni-directional fluid flow path comprises a piston disposed within a cylinder. Within the cylinder, the piston defines a first chamber between the piston and a cylinder base and a second chamber between the piston and a cylinder head. Fluid is introduced into the first chamber of the motor through an inlet port associated with the cylinder base. A pass-through valve controls the flow of fluid from the first chamber to the second chamber. An outlet valve regulates the draining of fluid from the second chamber through an outlet port associated with the cylinder head. Fluid pressure within the first chamber urges the piston towards the cylinder head when the pass-through valve is closed and the outlet valve is open. The piston surface facing the second chamber is larger than the piston surface facing the first chamber, so the piston moves towards the cylinder base when the pass-through valve is open and the outlet valve is closed.

Abstract: A medium and high pressure pump systems supplies a cryogenic fluid from a storage tank and methods of operating such systems to remove both liquid and vapor from the storage tank to reduce the need for venting. The system comprises a pump that is operable to pump cryogenic liquid or a mixture of cryogenic liquid and vapor. In accordance with the method, mass flow rate through the pump is controlled by selecting one of at least two operating modes. In a first operating mode a high flow rate is achieved by supplying cryogenic liquid to the pump from the storage tank to substantially fill a compression chamber within the pump with liquid. In a second operating mode, a lower mass flow rate is achieved by selectively simultaneously supplying liquid and vapor from the storage tank to the pump, with the vapor fraction being higher in the second operating mode compared to the first operating mode.

  • Patent number: 6053709
Abstract: A pneumatically driven pump includes a piston threadably connected to each end of a common connecting hollow rod which is inserted over a pumped material receiving tube, with this assembly enclosed in a housing. The pistons reciprocate in response to compressed air sequentially directed through different air ports in the housing, alternatively drawing in pumped material and then pumping it out of the pump through the pumped material tube along the center of the pump. A check valve at each of the inflow and outflow ends of the pump prevents back flow of the pumped material.

  • Patent number: 6027319
Abstract: A pump comprises a pair of coaxial pistons, one slidably positioned in the other for simultaneous compression causing similarly directed air flow, independent passages and valves for permitting air flow from each piston into the pump head for increased air flow, and a switching device for selectively opening one passage to ambient to decrease the air flow into the pump head. The pump thus has two modes, namely a high volume mode when the two pistons operate simultaneously to direct combined air flow and a high pressure mode when the passage is opened to ambient to direct air flow from only one of the two pistons.

  • Patent number: 5997256
Abstract: The dual stage, dual mode air pump is selectively operable in a low pressure, high volume mode or a high pressure, low volume mode. It includes a pump head, an outer tube that is engaged to the pump head, an inner tube that is engaged to the pump head and a middle tube that is slidably engaged to both the outer tube and the inner tube. A mode pump switch is utilized to allow the pump operator to change the mode of the pump. In the preferred embodiment, the mode switch is disposed within the pump head. It includes an air passageway having a manually switchable valve disposed therein. In the high volume, low pressure mode the valve switch is closed, whereupon pumped air passes into a pneumatic article engaged to the end of the pump. When the valve switch is opened, the pump is operable in the low volume high pressure mode, and a portion of the pumped air is outletted into the ambient environment, rather than being pumped into the pneumatic article.

  • Patent number: 5651666
Abstract: This invention features a small-enveloped (with an outside diameter of at least approximately 38 mm), single-acting, hydraulically-operated, reciprocating, deep-well, fluid-extraction pump, operable in non-straight and angular wells, and its mode of operation. The hydraulically-operated, deep-well pump, in addition to having an above-ground installation of its motor-fluid generator and of its control valving, comprises a compound, stepped piston that is reciprocably mounted within a cylinder which in turn is divided into individual pressure chambers. Hydrostatic pressure created by a hydraulic pump is selectively directed to two outlet ports to produce an overpressure in one of the outlet ports at any given instant. The overpressure in each outlet port leads to creation of overpressure in one or more pressure chambers. Imbalances in pressure among the pressure chambers result in movement of the compound, stepped piston and extraction of hydraulic-well fluid by the compound, stepped piston.
