Control By Movable Rigid Piston Side Wall Patents (Class 417/556)
  • Publication number: 20100028180
Abstract: A bicycle air pump is basically provided with a cylinder portion, an inner piston, a piston rod, a head portion, a handle and a magnetic mechanism. The cylinder portion includes a first end, a second end and a chamber disposed between the first and second ends. The inner piston is movably disposed in the chamber of the cylinder portion. The piston rod has a first end and a second end coupled to the inner piston. The head portion is coupled to the cylinder portion. The head portion includes an outlet passage communicated with the chamber cylinder portion for supplying air to an object to be inflated. The handle is coupled to the piston rod to move within the chamber. The magnetic mechanism includes first and second closure members for engaging together magnetically to hold the piston rod stationary with respect to the cylinder portion.

  • Patent number: 7410348
Abstract: A pumping/compressing apparatus for use in a fluid handling system transferring a fluid from one location, e.g., a tank, to another location or to an end use is provided. The apparatus basically includes a motor and a multistage, e.g., two stage, device including at least one reciprocating piston, an inlet stage chamber, an outlet stage chamber, an inlet, and an outlet. The piston is arranged to be reciprocated at multiple, e.g., respective first and second, speeds. The second speed is higher than the first speed, whereupon when the piston is reciprocated at the first speed the device effectively pumps liquid or mostly liquid to the outlet. When the piston is reciprocated at the second speed the device effectively compresses gas or mostly gas fluid and provides it to the outlet. A blowby port may be provided to provide blowby fluid back to the tank or the device.

  • Patent number: 7168924
Abstract: A rod pump control system includes a parameter estimator that determines from motor data parameters relating to operation of the rod pump and/or downhole dynamometer card without the need for external instrumentation, such as down hole sensors, rod load sensors, flow sensors, acoustic fluid level sensors, etc. In one embodiment, instantaneous motor current and voltage together with pump parameters are used in determining rod position and load. The rod position and load are used to control the operation of the rod pump to optimize the operation of the pump. Also disclosed in a pump stroke amplifier that is capable of increasing pump stroke without changing the overall pumping speed, or in the alternative, maintaining the well output with decreased overall pumping speed.

  • Patent number: 6659741
Abstract: A travelling valve assembly for use in a sucker rod activated fluid pump includes: a flow through body member having at least one rounded groove formed in the lower end of a central passageway of the flow through body member; and a downwardly depending member adapted to strike a ball valve of the valve assembly after the ball valve rises off a valve seat member of the valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 6071096
Abstract: A pneumatic cylinder for actuating fume extraction valves in fume and heat extraction plants has a piston (2) that may be actuated from both sides with at least one working surface and that can be made to slide by pressurised air in a cylinder (1) with at least one working chamber (4), as well as an energy accumulator with regulating means. The regulating means can be controlled by control means to open or keep open the fume extraction valves. In order to obtain a compact pneumatic cylinder for a fume and heat extraction plant which is easy to install, a storage chamber in which air or pressurised air is stored as compressible pressure medium is provided as energy accumulator. The storage chamber is in communication with a compression surface (7) of the piston (2), at its side opposite to the working surface (7), so that pressure medium may flow between the storage chamber and the compression surface (7).

  • Patent number: 5634780
Abstract: A drinking device for a diver includes a water container and a hand pump for pumping water to the diver's mouth. The hand pump includes a piston rod slidably engaged in a housing and two discs secured to the piston rod for separating the housing into an upper and a lower chambers. A passage is formed in the lower portion of the piston rod and has an aperture for communicating with a space formed between the discs. A sealing ring is slidably disposed in the space and may move upward to enclose the aperture for pumping the water in the lower chamber out of the housing. The sealing ring may also move downward to open the aperture for allowing the water in the upper chamber to flow into the lower chamber.

  • Patent number: 4272228
Abstract: A high volume, low profile, quick acting, dispensing pump features valve members provided with flow restricting passages which accelerate the opening and closing action of the valve members and thus make it possible for the pump to handle large volume quickly. The low profile is achieved by wrapping the pressurized compartment around the intake of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4239458
Abstract: An internal bypass free piston provides for continuous flow of gas during upward and downward travel of the piston; the piston is structured to rotate during downward travel to equalize wear and the frictional force between wall and piston is utilized to maintain the position of parts of the piston during upward as well as downward travel and is readily adjusted; further, such frictional force is automatically maintained at a higher value during upward motion than in downward motion in the well tubing.
