Abstract: A rotary mechanism including a rotor assembly having a plurality of piston members distributed about its periphery, and a rotary member in peripheral engagement with the rotor assembly. The rotary member (7) includes a plurality of piston receiving formations in its periphery for receiving the piston members, whereby during rotation of the rotor assembly the piston members move into and out of the piston receiving formations, and a plurality of conduits arranged to connect peripheral portions of the rotary member to an interior portion thereof. The rotary mechanism includes a flow separation device having an inlet port for receiving fluid into the rotary mechanism and an outlet port for enabling fluid to exit the rotary mechanism, a first passageway for connecting the inlet port with the interior side of at least one of the conduits formed in the rotary member and a second passageway for connecting the outlet port with the interior side of at least one of the conduits formed in the rotary member.

  • Patent number: 7185625
Abstract: The rotary piston power system includes a housing having a drum and a cover rotatably mounted on the drum. The drum has high pressure and low pressure ports defined in its peripheral wall and a central separator wall having arcuate end faces and a pair of semicylindrical recesses defined in opposing sidewalls. A pair of pistons are rotatably mounted on axles on opposite sides of the separator wall and fit closely between the separator wall and the peripheral wall. Each piston has a plurality of radially disposed cylindrical recesses defining slots in the piston's peripheral wall. The cover has a plurality of radially disposed vanes extending into the drum defining a number of cylinders or chambers double the number of recesses defined in a single piston. An input/output shaft extends from the opposite side of the cover for coupling to a prime mover or to a load.

  • Patent number: 4392797
Abstract: A device for lubricating a rotary piston air pump driven by an engine penetrated by lubricating oil return conduits. The device includes a rotary housing including a casing and two side walls and rotatably mounted on a stationary axle having an eccentric thereon. The axle penetrates the housing perpendicular with respect to the side walls and receives on its eccentric a rotating piston, which is in camming engagement with the casing and limits volume changing operating chambers. The surface of the eccentric on which the piston is mounted is provided with a recess in communication with a suction conduit and a recess in communication with a discharge conduit. The piston has control openings for successively communicating the recesses with the operating chambers during rotary movement of the piston.

  • Patent number: 4316439
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a rotary engine operable as an internal combustion engine or powered from an external source, the engine comprising essentially three parts: (1) an outer housing or body, (2) a valve shaft extending axially through the body and having an eccentric mounted thereon, and (3) a rotor journalled on the eccentric. The shape of the internal surface of the housing and the rotor is such as to define a plurality of variable volume working chambers between the rotor and the housing. The rotor and internal surface of the housing may be cylindrical with the variable volume working chambers formed by sealing means projecting from the rotor in contact with the internal surface of the housing. The rotor and internal surface of the housing may also have a multi-lobed configuration with there being one less projecting lobe on the rotor than lobes in the housing with the projecting lobes of the rotor being essentially the same size and shape as those of the housing.
