Abstract: A scroll compressor includes a fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll, each including a spiral wrap protruding from an end plate and having the same tooth thickness (Tr) and the same base-circle radius (b) defining an involute surface. The fixed scroll and the orbiting scroll are offset from each other by an orbiting radius (?) and mesh such that the respective wraps face each other with a phase shift of 180°. The orbiting scroll revolves/orbits along a circular orbit with the orbiting radius (?) to compress a gas while a rotation-preventing mechanism prevents rotation of the orbiting scroll. The relationship between the involute surfaces of the spiral wraps of the two scrolls and the dimensions, dimensional tolerance, and assembly standards of the rotation-preventing mechanism are determined so that the median value of an allowable angle of rotation (?) agrees with an upright position of the orbiting scroll.

Abstract: A scroll compressor is provided with a buffer portion (113b) having an increased diameter at an intermediate part of a discharge port (113). A refrigerant discharged from compression chambers (p) is introduced into the buffer portion (113b), and temporarily stays thereat. Then, the refrigerant is discharged to a discharge plenum (150), thereby reducing a pulsating pressure. Accordingly, noise occurring when the refrigerant discharged from the compression chambers (p) collides with the discharge plenum (150) is reduced, thereby greatly reducing noise of the scroll compressor.

Abstract: A compressor includes a first muffler chamber communicating with a first cylinder chamber, and a second muffler chamber communicating with a second cylinder chamber. The first muffler chamber and the second muffler chamber are communicated with each other by a gas passage. The gas passage is communicated with a Helmholtz type resonance chamber by a connecting passage. The connecting passage is connected to a lowermost end of the resonance chamber. Therefore, oil contained in the refrigerant gas, even if having entered into the resonance chamber, is discharged through the connecting passage located at the lowermost end of the resonance chamber to outside of the resonance chamber. Thus, since oil is not accumulated in the resonance chamber, the resonance chamber keeps generally constant in capacity at all times.
