Patent number: 8985985Abstract: A rotary compressor (102) has a shaft (4), a cylinder (5), a piston (8), a first vane (32), and a second vane (33). The first vane (32) divides a space between the cylinder (5) and the piston (8) along a circumferential direction of the piston (8). The second vane (33) further divides the space divided by the first vane (32) along the circumferential direction of the piston (8) so that a first compression chamber (25) and a second compression chamber (26) having a smaller volume than the first compression chamber (25) are formed within the cylinder (5). The piston (8) and the second vane (33) are integrated together, or the piston (8) and the second vane (33) are coupled together.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2011Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: Panasonic Intellectual Property Management Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takeshi Ogata, Atsuo Okaichi, Hiroshi Hasegawa

Patent number: 8985984Abstract: A rotary compressor (102) has a shaft (4), a cylinder (5), a piston (8), a first vane (32), a second vane (33), a first suction port (19), and a second suction port (20). The first suction port (19) introduces a working fluid into the first compression chamber (25). The second suction port (20) introduces a working fluid into the second compression chamber (26). The second suction port (20) is provided with a suction check valve (50).Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2011Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: Panasonic Intellectual Property Management Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takeshi Ogata, Atsuo Okaichi, Hiroshi Hasegawa

Patent number: 5046465Abstract: A rotary internal combustion engine which comprises a housing containing an axle, a pair of toroidal casings both containing a rotor with a piston disposed within the respective casings, an on/off valve for forming an ignition and explosion zone together with the piston disposed in the casings, and a gas outlet in the vicinity of the on/off valve disposed in the casings, whereby the rotation of the rotor within the internal combustion engine is achieved by transferring a compressed air-fuel mixture into the ignition and explosion zone, igniting the mixture and simultaneously, exploding, and exhausting the combusted gas through the gas outlet, thereby causing the rotation of the rotors together with the axle.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1989Date of Patent: September 10, 1991Inventor: Chong S. Yi

Patent number: 5009206Abstract: A rotary internal combustion engine which comprises a housing containing an axle, a pair of toroidal casings both disposed in parallel within the housing, the toroidal casings containing a rotor with a piston disposed within the casings, respectively, an on/off valve in a closed position for forming an ignition and explosion zone with the piston disposed in the casings, respectively, and a gas outlet in the on/off valve disposed in the casings, respectively, whereby the rotary internal combustion engine is achieved by continuously transferring a compressed air-fuel mixture into the ignition and explosion zone, igniting and simultaneously exploding the mixture continuously, and exhausting gases of combustion through the gas outlet in the closed valve position, and thereafter, the piston passes through the valve in an open position thereby causing rotation of the rotors with the axle.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1989Date of Patent: April 23, 1991Inventor: Chong S. Yi

Patent number: 4389174Abstract: A rotary engine has co-acting housing affixed gate and rotor-affixed runner mechanism which automatically retract so that the runners can pass through respective portions of the gate which then automatically extend and seal so that they form between runner and gate an expansible chamber for admission of gas under pressure to cause the runner or runners to rotate the rotor; actuation to retract the gate mechanism and the runner mechanism is by contact between pivotal elements respectively engaging them as they approach each other, and expansion of each for sealing the gate mechanism centrally and for producing runner-sealing against the walls of the housing is by means of spring-bias; both symmetrical and asymmetrical embodiments are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1981Date of Patent: June 21, 1983Inventor: Ching-Ho Tseng

Patent number: 4096846Abstract: A rotary fluid pressure engine having good fuel efficiency and low pollutant emissions. An annnular chamber of uniform cross-section forms a cylinder housing. An endless rotor is centrally positioned and movable in the cylinder housing. The rotor comprises at least one uniform thickness and height section which is connected to at least one enlarged height piston section, the rotor central width being approximately equal to the central width of the cylinder housing. At least one air floating valve member is formed in the cylinder housing, the valve members being movable by the enlarged height rotor section. The engine can be utilized to provide a compressed air source; to operate as a fluid pump; or utilized to turn a shaft.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1976Date of Patent: June 27, 1978Inventor: Alfred Biles

Patent number: 4076471Abstract: An engine comprises at least one cylinder and preferably several cylinders side-by-side. Each cylinder comprises a toroidal cylinder and has a piston which revolves around the cylinder. The piston is fixed to the periphery of a disk fixed to the main shaft which coincides with the axis of the cylinder. At one position of the cylinder a gate is installed which seals the cylinder into two sections. On one side of the gate is an inlet port and on the opposite side an exhaust port. A valve controlled by a cam shaft timed from the main shaft controls the inlet port. A gaseous medium is externally heated in a heater and is introduced under pressure through the inlet port and drives the piston around the cylinder; the medium in the cylinder ahead of the piston from the previous cycle is discharged through the exhaust port and cooled and then reheated. The valve is manually (or pedally) controlled to cut off to maintain proper speed for the load on the main shaft.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1976Date of Patent: February 28, 1978Inventor: Troy A. McClure

Patent number: 4012182Abstract: A machine for energy conversion includes a working chamber defined by two relatively movable parts and provided with inlets and outlets for the working medium, both parts having members serving as pistons and abutments which sealingly engage with the walls of the working chamber. The members serving as pistons and abutments may pass through each other and consist of a number of juxtaposed elements which laterally seal against each other and against adjacent portions of the wall of the working compartment and have variable surface area to permit passage.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1975Date of Patent: March 15, 1977Inventor: Gosta Svensson
