Patent number: 8376725Abstract: A planetary rotation machine including at least one ring channel which is curved along an at least partial arc and that contains a piston that can be moved in a fluid generating a movement. The piston can be coupled to a rotary body coaxially arranged by a lever by the rotational axis thereof. A stable structure able to transmit high torques is obtained by guiding the lever through a gap created in the wall of the ring channel in a direction of displacement of the piston, in a radial direction away from the piston in a sealed manner.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2007Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Inventor: Heinz Raubacher

Patent number: 7946833Abstract: The present invention provides a vane pump having variable displacement and high efficiency. The variable displacement vane pump includes a plurality of elongate, axially extending inserts disposed in the rotor. One of the inserts is disposed between every adjacent vane pair. The inserts are received within axially extending pockets in the rotor and are coupled to the rotor by springs. At lower rotational speeds, the inserts are retracted and the displacement of the pump chambers is at maximum. At higher rotational speeds, the inserts are advanced into the pump chambers, effectively reducing their displacement. Thus, the variable displacement pump compensates for the varying drive speed and achieves improved uniformity of fluid flow by providing maximum displacement at low speeds and reduced displacement at higher speeds.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2007Date of Patent: May 24, 2011Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventor: Gregory Mordukhovich

Patent number: 5242288Abstract: An engine or pump is described which has a round cylinder in cross section, the surface of the cylinder being a round toroidal tube in the rotary direction. The cylinder is made of two equal parts, one part fixed and one part rotating with each part meeting on a flat surface at a right angle to the driveshaft. Force exerted axially against the rotating cylinder part by a spring diaphram seals the cylinder where the two parts meet on the flat surface. The spring diaphram is pre-loaded by a thrust bearing in a pre-loading disk to apply force to the rotating part of the cylinder. Within the cylinder are one or more round toroidal section pistons that are attached to the rotating part of the cylinder by piston pins. A hinged internal cylinder abutment is actuated by the piston as the piston passes through the abutment section. Working fluid to the cylinder is controlled by an internal valve actuated by a cam-disk on the driveshaft.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1987Date of Patent: September 7, 1993Inventor: Ogden W. Patent number: 5033946Abstract: A rotary machine includes a stationary housing having a rotor chamber and a rotor rotatably mounted in the rotor chamber, the inner peripheral surface of the rotor chamber having a central axis which is eccentrically disposed relative to the axis of rotation of the rotor. The housing has generally planar inner end walls having a cylindrical opening through which the rotor shaft extends. A plurality of vanes are slidably mounted in vane slots in the rotor and operable to define variable volume chambers as the rotor rotates and the vanes move generally radially in and out of the vane slots. Back pressure regulating grooves are disposed in the end walls of the housing, the grooves having a central axis coincident with the axis of rotation of the rotor, the grooves being juxtaposed to the vane slots and communicating with the vane slots for regulating the internal back pressure on the vanes in the vane slots.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1989Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignee: Eagle Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroshi Sakamaki, Yukio Horikoshi, Kenji Tanzawa

Patent number: 4428195Abstract: A rotary vacuum pump is proposed, having a rotor with vanes which rotates eccentrically within a housing bore. Each vane is coupled with a body which is ineffective at relatively low pump rpm; however, at higher rpm, the body engages the vane in such a manner that it removes the vane from its track within the housing bore.In this manner, an rpm-dependent shutoff device is created for the pump. In cooperation with the furnishing of underpressure as an auxiliary pressure in motor vehicles, the pump is used to supplement the underpressure which prevails when the internal combustion engine is at low, idling rpm; this prevailing underpressure is at a very low pressure level, and so when it is thus supplemented there is sufficient auxiliary vacuum force available over the entire rpm range.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1981Date of Patent: January 31, 1984Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Ernst Linder, Helmut Rembold, Walter Teegen
