  • Patent number: 8794255
Abstract: The subject invention described herein is directed to an improved fluid powered system for dispensing a selectively variable proportion of additives into a primary fluid supply line such as is commonly encountered in the firefight industry where it is desirable to proportion foam concentrates into a water line. The subject invention features a water driven motor that is integral to a variable displacement additive pump. A proportioning adjustment allows the solution % to be adjusted. Once set, the additive percent varies in direct proportion to the water flow rate in order to maintain a nearly constant solution percentage over a broad flow range.

  • Patent number: 5738065
Abstract: A rotary engine contains a laterally displaceable rotary member which is sealably and slidably engaged by a rotor plate which has been modified for sealing, travels in an eccentric circle along with the rotor, but provides sealing against the rotor using corner seals and surface seals, and is also further sealed against the engine housing so that combustion gasses in the vicinity of the rotor and rotor plate do not escape either between the rotor and rotor plate surfaces nor between the rotor plate surfaces and the engine housing surfaces. The other end of the rotor rotatably depends from a reducing piston which is sealably engaged against the internal portion of the engine so that it can travel laterally, in order to laterally displace the rotor. During engine operation, the rotor can be made to be axially displaced or pushed through the rotor plate to lower the effective combustion volume.

Abstract: An first rotor and an second rotor rotate about a longitudinal axis in a housing. The second rotor moves longitudinally relative to the first rotor. Rotor vanes extend outward from the rotors and are longitudinally split into longitudinally extending second vanes and longitudinally extending first vanes that slide longitudinally relative to one another. The second vanes travel longitudinally with the second rotor relative to the first rotor, and the second vanes slide relative to the first vanes that remain with the first rotor. The second rotor and the second vanes move longitudinally toward and away from a recess defined by the first rotor such that the active surface area of the rotor vanes is varied. When the second vanes slide away from the first vanes, surfaces of the first vanes are exposed that reciprocate into and out of specially defined chambers in a pump-like fashion.
