Rotating Inner Working Or Reacting Member Repositioned Relative To Cylinder Patents (Class 418/29)
  • Patent number: 4887580
Abstract: Supercharger device for reciprocating internal combustion engines, particularly for motor vehicles, comprising, inserted on the induction manifold of the engine, a rotary positive-displacement supercharger driven constantly by the motor shaft, the capacity and therefore the delivery pressure whereof is variable from a minimum value to a maximum value and vice versa by virtue of the corresponding controlled variation of the geometry of the pumping means constituted by a stator cylinder, a rotor and vanes.

  • Patent number: 4684143
Abstract: A two-wheeled vehicle such as a bicycle includes a variable displacement fluid pump such as a radial plunger pump provided at a crankshaft of pedals and a fixed displacement fluid motor such as a gear motor at a rear wheel or a front wheel. The fluid pump and motor are connected through hydraulic passages. Plungers of the radial plunger pump are driven by a cam assembly whose eccentricity is adjustable by means of an eccentricity control means dependent upon the load acting upon the vehicle in a stepless manner, so that the speed of the vehicle can be changed in a stepless manner. Moreover, the vehicle includes automatic speed change means which automatically change the eccentricity of the eccentric cam assembly according to hydraulic pressure of the variable displacement fluid pump, so that the speed of the vehicle can be automatically changed.

  • Patent number: 4678413
Abstract: A variable displacement pump/motor characterized by a housing, a rotary shaft assembly disposed of within the housing, a plurality of hinged vanes engaged with the rotary shaft assembly, and an offset rotor assembly engaged with the vanes and having its own axis of rotation. The output of the pump or motor is changed by varying the axis of rotation of the rotor relative the axis of rotation of the rotary shaft assembly. A pair of counter rotating eccentrics are used to smoothly vary the axis of rotation of the rotor along a plane which is common to the axis of rotation of the rotor and the axis of rotation of the shaft assembly. The output of the pump/motor can be varied smoothly between a maximum in a first direction, to zero, to a maximum in a an opposite direction, and back again.

  • Patent number: 4357800
Abstract: A rotary external combustion heat engine for furnishing mechanical energy from a source of heat. The engine includes a ring-like stator having an oval rotor chamber enclosing a cylindrical rotor eccentrically placed within the chamber to define a high displacement high temperature fluid chamber and a lower displacement low temperature fluid chamber. A plurality of extensible vanes extend outwardly from the rotor in sliding contact with the inner surface of the rotor chamber. A source of heat supplies thermal energy to fluid supplied to the high temperature chamber, while a heat sink cools fluid supplied to the low temperature chamber. An economizer heat exchanger is also provided for preheating the working fluid. The relative position of the rotor within the rotor chamber is adjustable for varying the relative displacement of the fluid chambers to control engine working parameters.

  • Patent number: 4239466
Abstract: A rotating ring rotary compressor having a driven eccentric so mounted on the drive shaft that its eccentricity is adjustable from a minimum to a maximum, whereby at its maximum extension it presses the roller surface against the stator surface to cause it to roll around the stator with zero clearance and positive hermetic sealing. Because the extensible eccentric mounting is spring-biased, the resultant working pressure is controlled by the contribution of the spring bias to centrifugal force and any excess of pressure or interference causes the roller to reduce eccentricity, thereby internally bypassing excess pressure or overcoming interference.

  • Patent number: 4219314
Abstract: A rotary compressor 10 of the rolling piston type is shown wherein the rolling cylindrical piston 28 is forced into rolling contact with the cylindrical interior 15 of the compressor chamber by a hydraulic piston 78 and cylinder 64 arrangement providing a resilient force on the rolling piston 28 to permit non-compressible matter such as liquid refrigerant to be present in the compressor chamber and also, through means 82 for varying the hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic piston and cylinder arrangement, permit varying the compressor discharge pressure while the rolling piston is continuously driven.

  • Patent number: 4084926
Abstract: A rotary gear pump comprising two excentrically arranged gear wheels of different sizes, of which the greater gear wheel is rotatably mounted in the generally cylindrical housing of the pump and the smaller gear wheel is mounted upon a shaft which is arranged excentrically in the housing of the pump in such a way that the teeth of the two gear wheels, in the working condition of the pump, are mutually engaged along an area of the inner circumference of the housing of the pump between the outlet of the pump and the inlet of the pump, and are arranged with an interspace between the top circles of the teeth along another part of the circumferences of the wheels, a blocking member being arranged in the interspace with one surface of the blocking member sealing against teeth of the smaller gear wheel and with another surface of the blocking member sealing against teeth of the greater gear wheel, wherein the shaft and the blocking member are mounted rotatably in the housing about the axis of the greater gear wheel

  • Patent number: 3966365
Abstract: A hydraulic power transmission and braking system for vehicles in which individual hydraulic wheel motors are connected through suitable control apparatus to a variable displacement hydraulic pump which is driven by an appropriate power source. The displacement of the pump varies automatically in response to hydraulic fluid pressure and flow rate requirements imposed by the vehicle operating conditions. The power transmission control apparatus automatically switches from the 4-wheel drive mode to the 2-wheel drive mode as the vehicle accelerates past a predetermined speed. The braking control system proportions the braking force applied to each of the hydraulic wheel motors in accordance with the load imposed on that wheel by the vehicle operating conditions.
