  • Patent number: 6244844
Abstract: A fluid displacement apparatus includes a housing defining a chamber therein having a first port and a second port. First and second helical rotors with opposing pitches are meshed within the chamber, in fluid communication with the first and second ports. The step catches on a mating step formed in the compressor rotor when it is good and does not catch on the mating step when it is bad (i.e., worn). A repair person can test the wear of the indicator merely by attempting to withdraw the indicator. If it is removed it is worn, and if it is not removable, it is acceptable.

  • Patent number: 5727933
Abstract: A pump for use in additive systems such as foam chemical additive systems for fire fighting water, the pump including impeller elements and flow meter elements in a common casing. The pump casing provides a gear pump arrangement using two enmeshed gears on an inlet side, and a closely adjacent gear flow meter arrangement downstream of the gear pump arrangement within the same pump casing. The gear flow meter elements are driven only by the force of liquid pumped by the enmeshed gears of the gear pump and cause very low pressure drop across the flow meter elements. Therefore, inaccurate measurements of flow rates due to slippage and viscosity variation are reduced compared to measuring the rotary speed of gear pump gears directly. The system is optimally used to meter and add foam chemical into a pressurized water line for fighting fires.

In order to cool the oil serving to lubricate the compressor bearings separately and to thereby achieve a more economical functioning of the entire cooling device, it is suggested that only the part of the oil serving to lubricate the bearings of the compressor is cooled as a function of the oil temperature sensed behind the bearings and that a branched stream of coolant is used for this, the stream on its part subsequently being fed to the compressor again.

Abstract: A refrigerant compressor for use with an air conditioner for vehicles, which comprises a housing in which a vane pump is accommodated, and a covering disposed so as to enclose said housing in a fashion that its inner wall cooperates with the outer wall of said housing to define a refrigerant delivery chamber, characterized by that a temperature sensor is embedded in a portion of the outer wall of said housing. The sensor may be composed of a semiconductor thermo-sensitive device or a conductor wire made of a metal including a high resistance metal. Thus, accurate and stable detection of the internal temperature of the compressor is feasible, thereby making it possible to avoid seizure of the sliding machine parts of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4219313
Abstract: An assembly of plate members for forming a commutator valve for hydraulic devices of the expanding-contracting pocket type, such as hydraulic motors. The assembly includes a first end plate, a second end plate and a plurality of intermediate plates therebetween. The first end plate includes first and second arrays of fluid passageways for communicating with expanding and contracting fluid pockets, respectively, during operation of the motor. The intermediate plates may be assembled together in either a first or a second alignment depending upon the desired direction of rotation of the hydraulic motor. The intermediate plates are designed such that in the first alignment they direct high pressure fluid from a high pressure port to the first array of passageways and low pressure fluid from the second array of passageways to a low pressure port. The output shaft of the hydraulic motor thus rotates in one direction.
