Abstract: A rotary compressor comprises a compression chamber defined by enclosing both ends of a cylinder with a main bearing and an end bearing; compression elements including a piston which is eccentrically rotated by a crank shaft within the compression chamber, and dividing the compression chamber into a high pressure chamber and a low pressure chamber; and a sealed container to be a plenum space, in which the compression elements are housed and lubricating oil is sumped at the inner bottom section of the sealed container to effect lubrication of sliding parts of the compression elements, wherein the lubricating oil is returned into the sealed container after it has been cooled through a heat-exchanger provided outside the sealed container.

Abstract: A rotary shaft for compressor includes a cylindrical shaft body and a cylindrical eccentric member. The shaft body is rotatably arranged in an outer box of the compressor and is connected to an electric motor at one end portion thereof. The eccentric member has a through hole extending along the axis thereof and formed eccentric thereto, and also has a groove extending from the upper end face to the lower end face thereof to form a passage for lubrication oil. The groove is provided with a bottom face adjacent to the shaft body. The shaft body is inserted into the through hole. The eccentric member is secured to the other end portion of the shaft body by laser-welding the bottom of the groove to the shaft body. An annular eccentric roller is rotatably fitted onto the eccentric member.
Abstract: A multi-cylinder single-stage rotary rolling piston type gas compressor comprises four modular cylinder housings, partitions and end covers bolted together in end-to-end arrangement. Each cylinder housing includes an inner wall which defines a centrally located cylinder chamber and vane slot and an outer wall which defines a suction chamber, a discharge chamber and an oil chamber or reservoir surrounding the cylinder chamber. The four suction chambers are connected together end-to-end to a common gas inlet port. The four discharge chambers are connected together end-to-end to a common gas discharge port. The four oil chambers are connected together end-to-end. An internally lubricated rotor assembly extends axially through the four cylinder chambers and comprises a shaft rotatably supported on the end covers. The shaft has four eccentric crankarms on which four roller pistons are rotatably mounted, one for each cylinder chamber. The two central pistons are angularly displaced 180.degree.

Abstract: A fuel vaporization device is provided wherein atomized liquid fuel is injected in timed sequence directly into the vacuum chambers of a rolling piston vacuum pump. Optionally, minute amounts of air are bled into the vacuum chamber as the liquid fuel droplets are injected resulting in substantially complete and immediate vaporization of the fuel which is fed as gaseous fuel from the vacuum pump to the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine. A water jacket surrounds the pump for circulating heated liquid coolant from the engine in heat exchange relationship with the fuel in the vacuum pump.
Abstract: A horizontal rotary type compressor having a rotary compression unit hermetically contained in a closed shell has its lubricating parts effectively lubricated by lubricant oil being fed to the central lubrication bore formed axially in the crankshaft through a lubricant oil feed tube which is opened at one end within the lubricant oil accumulated on the bottom of the closed shell and adapted to be intermittently subjected to the refrigerant gas discharged from the compression unit.

Abstract: The disclosed rolling piston type compressor comprises a needle bearing sandwiched between two bearing washers and serving as a thrust bearing for a rotary shaft and a resilient sealing ring of polytetrafluoroethylene press fitted into a space defined by the outer periphery of the needle bearing and the two bearing washers. Alternatively the sealing ring may be formed of cast iron and seal the space with an oil film disposed in a clearance between the ring and one of the bearing washers.

Abstract: An apparatus for withdrawing agglomerated solids, e.g. ash, from a fluidized bed of finely divided solid hydrocarbonaceous material, e.g. coal, is described. Agglomeration is effected by a high temperature reaction between the inorganic constituents of the hydrocarbonaceous material in the fluidized bed environment. A venturi is utilized to serve as a passage for withdrawing the agglomerated solids from the fluidized bed. Spiral or other descending ridges are positioned on the interior surface of the constricted cylindrical opening of the venturi. A tube, through which reaction gases pass, is centrally disposed within the constricted cylindrical opening to permit variable and increased rates of agglomerate discharge with improved separation and classification of the solid materials.

Abstract: A housing has a cylindrical interior which has a peripheral seal chamber parallel to the cylinder axis. Inlet and exhaust ports are formed in the housing, preferably in or near the seal chamber. These ports are sealed from each other by a freely rolling cylinder which rolls on a rolling piston cylinder mounted on a shaft with an eccentric and with a bearing between the eccentric and the piston. The rolling seal also engages the seal chamber, and to reduce friction a rotatable support on a fixed axis is disposed in the seal chamber and in turn is sealed by a rubbing seal to the seal chamber wall. The rolling seal cylinder retreats into the seal chamber when the piston cylinder reaches the region of the seal chamber. This structure eliminates prior art rubbing seals which engaged the rolling piston.
Abstract: An improved rotary pump designed to ensure a high pumping efficiency and delivery pressure without any unfavorable pulsation thereof. The pump includes a pump shaft drivably coupled to a prime mover and provided with a groove having a bottom surface extending in parallel with the axis of said shaft, and an eccentric rotor received in a cylindrical chamber for pumping of fluid and arranged to surround through a bearing said pump shaft for eccentric movement relative to said pump shaft while keeping a sealing contact with the wall of said cylindrical chamber. One or more wedge roller is disposed between said groove bottom surface and said bearing for effective power transmission from said pump shaft to said eccentric rotor. Between the cylindrical chamber wall and said eccentric rotor, there is formed a pump chamber which is sealingly divided by a partition member into a suction chamber and a delivery chamber.

Abstract: A planetary air motor with two internal gearings employing two internally toothed ring gears. One ring gear rotates and meshes with a first rim of a two-rim pinion, the other gear forms an intertooth space with a second rim of the pinion that is freely mounted on an eccentric journal of a pinion carrier and has radial through slots in the tooth spaces. The intertooth space is limited by a flange at one face and by a fixed washer at the other face of the fixed gear and is divided into two intertooth working zones A and B. Zone A communicates with the compressed air line and the other one (B) with the atmosphere. The pinion carrier has a main channel and an additional channel with an inside bore that is smaller than that of the main channel and which is isolated from the latter. The additional channel is disposed towards the periphery of an eccentric journal of the pinion carrier and communicates with the compressed air line and the intertooth working zone A through a slot in the pinion carrier.

Abstract: Liquid refrigerant is injected into the high-pressure side of a rotary compressor so as to cool the refrigerant being compressed to allow it to be useful in cooling the compressor motor. The injection port is located on the bottom face of the compressor chamber, within an area removed from the compressor chamber wall, immediately adjacent the compressor chamber discharge. The feed to the injection port is through a larger tube containing two non-connected capillaries, the first capillary being connected to the inlet of the tube and the second capillary being connected to the injection port. In this manner, a column of liquid remains in the second capillary.
Abstract: A motor driven machine, such as a machine capable of holding and imparting movement to a tool, for example, which may be an eraser strip that is brought to bear upon a surface, such as a paper surface, for erasure of undesirable markings therefrom. The machine includes an internal air supply mechanism having the capability of directing a flow of compressed air against the work surface in the area of contact between the tool and the surface for the purpose of cooling the surface and the tool as well as blowing particles from the immediate area of engagement between the tool and the surface. The machine may include a holding device for supporting the machine in proper position to be grasped when the machine is not in use.
