  • Patent number: 5443376
Abstract: A lubricating device for a horizontal type rotary compressor having an oil pumping chamber formed under the vane in the compression cylinder. The oil pumping chamber is provided in the compression cylinder under the vane and has an oil inlet port and an oil outlet port provided on at least one of its side walls. An oil piston is received in the pumping chamber such that it elastically vertically reciprocates in the pumping chamber in accordance with vertical reciprocation of the vane. The piston is biased upwards at the outside of the pumping chamber by a steel wire spring which is connected at one end thereof to the oil piston and at the other end thereof to one of the compression cylinder, the main bearing and the sub bearing. An oil feed pipe is connected between the oil outlet port of the pumping chamber and an oil conduit of the eccentric rotating shaft. A hydraulic diode, of which the upper diameter is not smaller than the lower diameter, may be axially formed in the oil piston.

Abstract: A scroll compressor oil pumping system has a concentric axial bore located in the driveshaft of the compressor which serves as the primary oil pump. The driveshaft is journaled in a lower bearing housing and is located within the oil sump of the compressor. An inlet housing is attached to the lower bearing housing and creates a stepped flow path for the oil between the sump and the oil pump. The inlet housing may also be equipped with a plurality of air foil shaped vanes to impede the formation of a bottom vortex. The stepped flow path causes an annular vortex to form which operates to separate the contaminants from the lubricating oil. In order to assist in the formation of the annular vortex, the driveshaft can include an impeller. The contaminants are channelled into a holding chamber formed by the lower bearing housing and the inlet housing. A plurality of funnel shaped orifices guide the contaminants into the chamber and operate to resist blow out of the debris during liquid flashing conditions.

  • Patent number: 5324183
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for producing a controllable, uniform conveying pressure for processing highly viscous, temperature sensitive rubber or thermoplastics, consisting of two rotating conveying elements that form a toothlike sealing profile and are arranged on shafts in a housing. The root diameter of the conveying elements more or less corresponds to the diameter of the shaft sections that are axially adjacent to the conveying elements on either side and form bearing surface therefor. The radial faces of the conveying elements are thus avoided and so are the usually rather difficult sealing problems at these faces. By additionally providing either the shaft sections or the surrounding housing parts with return channels the channel volume of which decreases in the conveying direction, the axial sealing capacity of the gear pump is improved considerably.

  • Patent number: 5013225
Abstract: A hermetic scroll compressor is disclosed including within a hermetically sealed housing a fixed scroll member, an orbiting scroll member, and a crankshaft operably coupled to the orbiting scroll member and driven by a motor. The crankshaft has an axial passageway therein that is in fluid communication with an oil sump located in a discharged pressure chamber within the housing. Upon rotation of the crankshaft, a centrifugal oil pump delivers oil through the axial passageway to the bottom surface of a plate portion of the orbiting scroll member. An oil passage extends through the orbiting scroll plate to introduce oil into a discharge compression chamber established by the intermeshing fixed and orbiting scroll members. Accordingly, oil is introduced into the compression chamber and intermediate the scroll members without the creation of an intentional pressure leak. The size of the oil passage can be varied to affect the amount of oil introduced into the compression chamber.

Abstract: A compressor unit composed of a fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll which are engaged with each other, and a variable speed motor are disposed in a hermetic chamber. A first bearing is provided in an engagement portion between a crankshaft and the orbiting scroll in an intermediate pressure chamber provided on a back surface of the orbiting scroll for applying thereto an intermediate pressure between a discharge pressure and a suction pressure. The crankshaft is supported by a second bearing provided close to the orbiting scroll and a third bearing provided close to the motor. The first, second and third bearings are lubricated by force of a differential pressure between the discharge pressure and the intermediate pressure through an oil passage. The oil passage is in communication at one end thereof with the lubricant oil on which the discharge pressure is applied, and opens at the other end thereof into the intermediate pressure chamber.
