Patent number: 8337183Abstract: A valve for selectively allowing the return of oil from a discharge plenum to a suction plenum includes a passage which is selectively opened or blocked by a valve spool. The valve spool sees a pressure from a discharge pressure location upstream of a discharge check valve on one face, and a discharge pressure from a discharge plenum on an opposed face. While the compressor is running, the two pressures should be relatively equal. The face which sees the pressure from the chamber upstream of the check valve is larger than the face which sees the pressure from the discharge plenum. Thus, when the compressor is running, the valve spool is biased to a first position at which it allows oil return from the discharge plenum to the suction plenum. However, upon shutdown of the compressor, the pressure in the chamber upstream of the discharge valve drops. The valve spool will be driven to a second position at which it blocks communication for oil return.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2009Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Assignee: Danfoss Scroll Technologies, LLCInventors: Tracy L. Patent number: 7628595Abstract: A gas vane pump wherein a lubricant is intermittently introduced into a housing during rotation of a rotor, through a supply passage formed through the housing and the rotor, and the relative position between the rotor having a diametric hole and the housing having a communication groove is determined such that when the rotor is at an angular position in the middle of a predetermined angular range relative to the housing and the hole is in communication with the groove, a point of contact between a vane movably held by the rotor and the inner circumferential surface of the housing is located at the lowest position of the inner circumferential surface. When the rotor is stopped within the predetermined angular range, the vane divides the remaining lubricant into two portions, which are discharged at different times, making it possible to reduce the load on the vane upon restarting the pump.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2005Date of Patent: December 8, 2009Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Luk Automobiltechnik GmbH & Co. Patent number: 7628592Abstract: In a compression/expansion unit (30) serving as a fluid machine, both a compression mechanism (50) and an expansion mechanism (60) are housed in a single casing (31). An oil supply passageway (90) is formed in a shaft (40) by which the compression mechanism (50) and the expansion mechanism (60) are coupled together. Refrigeration oil accumulated in the bottom of the casing (31) is drawn up into the oil supply passageway (90) and is supplied to the compression mechanism (50) and to the expansion mechanism (60). Surplus refrigeration oil, which is supplied to neither of the compression and expansion mechanisms (50) and (60), is discharged out of the terminating end of the oil supply passageway (90) which opens at the upper end of the shaft (40). Thereafter, the surplus refrigeration oil flows into an oil return pipe (102) from a lead-out hole (101) and is returned back towards a second space (39).Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2005Date of Patent: December 8, 2009Assignee: Daikin Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Tetsuya Okamoto, Eiji Kumakura, Masakazu Okamoto, Michio Moriwaki, Katsumi Sakitani

Patent number: 7566210Abstract: A horizontal scroll-type compressor utilizes the pressure differential between the discharge pressure and the suction pressure to route lubricant from the discharge chamber to the components within the intake chamber. The compressor may utilize a lubricant separator within the discharge chamber to separate the working fluid from the lubricant prior to the working fluid exiting the compressor. The compressor may use an internal passageway that extends from the discharge chamber to a position adjacent the crankshaft to provide lubricant to the internal lubricant passage within the crankshaft.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2005Date of Patent: July 28, 2009Assignee: Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc.Inventors: John P Elson, Shawn W Vehr, William E Ramey

Patent number: 7497673Abstract: In a scroll fluid machine, a driving shaft has an eccentric axial portion around which an orbiting scroll revolves while the orbiting scroll engages with a fixed scroll. A cooling path extends through the driving shaft to a gap between the outer circumferential surface of the eccentric axial portion and the inner circumferential surface of an axial hole of the orbiting scroll. A cooling gas is introduced into the cooling path to cool bearings around the driving shaft. A forced convection generating portion is provided on the driving shaft for sucking the cooling gas into the gap and discharging the gas.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2007Date of Patent: March 3, 2009Assignee: Anest Iwata CorporationInventor: Ryusuke Muto

Patent number: 7491046Abstract: A rotary combustion engine with at least one working unit, which has essentially a peripheral engine housing, a side housing plate on one side, a side housing plate on the power takeoff side, a triangular piston, and an eccentric shaft. The piston is configured of several parts, which are connected to each other. The connection is accomplished by electron-beam welding under vacuum, which yields excellent results as long as certain conditions are met. The one sidewall and the power takeoff sidewall of the piston are preferably welded to a piston housing, as a result of which the casting molds can be of simpler design and simpler contours can be used, which leads to welds of higher quality and to a decrease in the costs of casting.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2005Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignee: Wankel Super Tec GmbHInventors: Wolfgang Baier, Dankwart Eiermann
