Patent number: 4343599Abstract: A scroll-type compressor constituted by a stationary scroll and a revolving scroll, and an electric motor for causing a revolving motion of the revolving scroll are disposed in a closed container. The scroll-type compressor has openings which are adapted to permit fluid compression pockets between two scrolls to be communicated with the space inside the closed container when the pressure in the pockets have been increased to a predetermined pressure intermediate between the suction and discharge pressures, so that the pressure in the closed container may be maintained at the same level as the above-mentioned predetermined pressure. The bottom part of the closed container constitutes an oil well where the lubricating oil is stored. This oil well is connected to the suction side of the compressor through an oil feed passage constituted by a capillary tube, so that the oil is fed to the compressor due to the pressure difference between the space inside the closed container and the inlet side of the compressor.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1980Date of Patent: August 10, 1982Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventor: Hirokatu Kousokabe

Patent number: 4332535Abstract: A scroll type compressor unit including a compressor housing having fluid inlet and outlet ports, and two fixed and orbiting scroll members within the compressor housing. Each scroll member has an end plate and a spiral element which are maintained angularly and radially offset so that both spiral elements interfit with a line contacts between the spiral curved surfaces to define moving sealed off pockets. In order that the fluid may be reliably taken into all fluid pockets, the end plate of the fixed scroll member is formed with a suction port connecting to the fluid inlet port at a position adjacent to the outer terminal end of the orbiting spiral element. Thus, the fluid introduced through the suction port may be taken into a fluid pocket which is formed at the outer terminal end portion of the orbiting spiral element and is sent along the outer surface of the orbiting spiral element to a fluid pocket which is formed at the outer terminal end of the fixed spiral element.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1979Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Assignee: Sankyo Electric Company LimitedInventors: Kiyoshi Terauchi, Masaharu Hiraga

Patent number: 4314796Abstract: A scroll-type refrigerant compressor unit is assembled by inserting parts into the compressor housing in a predetermined order and by finally securing a front end plate onto the compressor housing by bolts, which simplifies the production of the compressor unit. A drive shaft is supported by a single radial bearing, and a disk rotor having a drive pin to effect the orbital motion of the orbiting scroll member is fixedly mounted on the inner end of the drive shaft and is supported on the front end plate by a thrust bearing. Thus, the drive shaft and, therefore, the compressor unit are reduced in length and deflections and vibrations of the drive shaft are prevented. A lubricating system is provided to lubricate the shaft seal assembly on the drive shaft wherein the oil in the compressor housing is directed to the shaft seal cavity and returns to the interior of the compressor housing after lubricating the radial and thrust bearings and other parts.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1979Date of Patent: February 9, 1982Assignee: Sankyo Electric Company LimitedInventor: Kiyoshi Terauchi

Patent number: 4295806Abstract: The disclosed rotary compressor includes a wire gauze disposed in its shell to traverse a passage through which a compressed gaseous refrigerant from a delivery tube flows to a discharge tube within the shell. A lubricant included in the compressed refrigerant is separated from the latter by the wire gauze and falls on a sump disposed at the bottom of the housing. Further an L roof-shaped partition may be interposed between the top of a compressor unit and the housing to divide a space around the compressor unit into two space portions in which the delivery and discharge tubes open respectively.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1979Date of Patent: October 20, 1981Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Naoki Tanaka, Kunihiko Tsuchiya, Toshizo Nishizawa

Patent number: 4289461Abstract: A liquid-injected compressor device for avoiding condensation of moisture in the outlet of a compressor is disclosed. The device comprises a control valve which is actuated in opposite directions by two sensors. One of the sensors senses the inlet temperature of the compressor and the other the outlet temperature. A constant temperature difference is maintained between the inlet and outlet of the compressor.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1979Date of Patent: September 15, 1981Assignee: Atlas Copco AktiebolagInventors: Gosewinus F. van Oorschot, Kaj B. Patent number: 4280799Abstract: A housing surrounds a compressor for cooling media and forms at one axial end of the same a chamber which receives from the compressor one or more streams of gaseous cooling medium in which compressor lubricating oil is entrained. The chamber communicates with an outlet of the housing and is filled with a body of gas-permeable material through which the stream or streams must pass on the way to the outlet, and which separates entrained oil from the gaseous cooling medium.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1979Date of Patent: July 28, 1981Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Hans-Dirk Struve, Jurgen Hess, Theodor Vysiotis

Patent number: 4279578Abstract: Separation of lubricating oil, entrained in the discharge gas produced by a rotary vane compressor, is achieved in a relatively small space by initially passing the oil-laden discharge gas through a first closed chamber, containing an oil separating element, to form a stream of gas having some of its oil removed and having a desired velocity uniformly distributed across the stream's cross section. The gas stream is then circulated within a second and larger closed chamber where the remaining oil is separated out by gravity settling and impingement on the second chamber's walls. The separated oil collects in a reservoir at the bottom of the second chamber to form an oil pool. The oil-free discharge gas exits through an outlet in the second chamber.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1979Date of Patent: July 21, 1981Assignee: Borg-Warner CorporationInventors: Tong S. Kim, John S.
