  • Patent number: 9897403
Abstract: The present invention relates to firearms, especially to guns, and more particularly to a system for attenuating recoil, reducing muzzle climb and increasing accuracy. The invention provides a recoil attenuating mechanism that is an improvement on the well-known and widely used Browning tilting barrel system which is used mostly in semi-automatic pistols. The recoil attenuation is achieved by redirecting and manipulating the forces of the recoil of the slide of the pistol to a different axis than what is the norm on a regular Browning action, thus reducing muzzle climb substantially in addition to attenuating recoil, and therefore improving accuracy, recovery time, and controllability.

Abstract: Disclosed is a accessory device for a ballistic thrower that can be handgun or a gun or other object throwing device that is meant to improve the quality of the action and the comfort and safety of the operator. It is made of accessory devices that stabilize the operation of the throwing device making it reproducible, predictable and controllable. It adds an improved target visualization system and environment monitoring electronics and actuators for accurately firing/throwing after aiming considering all the major perturbations, as movements, wind, humidity, atmospheric pressure, target movement, shooting post movement, etc. The device adds other features of safety for the shooter, as stealth action, by dampening the shock, flames and heat signature and having a remote operation.

Abstract: A recoil pad for a firearm includes at least one gas chamber, and at least one access port to the gas chamber. The access port retains gas pressure within the gas chamber, and also allows pressurization and depressurization of the gas chamber. In additional embodiments, a recoil pad encloses two or more gas chambers having different pressures therein. Firearms include such recoil pads. Methods of fabrication of firearms include attaching such a recoil pad to a stock or grip of a firearm. Methods of using such recoil pads and firearms include the selective pressurization or depressurization of a gas chamber in a recoil pad.

  • Patent number: 8769852
Abstract: A flash suppressing and recoil compensating muzzle device for use with a firearm provides a muzzle device that reduces recoil and inhibits muzzle flash while preventing audible harmonic resonant ringing after the firearm is discharged. The present invention accomplishes this through the use of an open ended muzzle device that redirects a portion of the high velocity gasses exiting the terminal end of the weapon through asymmetrically placed narrowing exhaust openings. The asymmetrically placed narrowing exhaust openings gradually direct exiting gases to the rear and to the sides of the muzzle in order to reduce recoil and reducing light emissions. The narrowing exhaust openings are formed by the radially positioned prongs of a distinct weight and width, which widen from the proximal to distal end of the muzzle device. The weight and mass disparity between prongs prevents audible ringing by reducing resonant vibrations between neighboring prongs.

Abstract: A matched muzzle brake and weight system mountable on a firearm barrel is disclosed. In certain embodiments, the muzzle brake and weight are configured to have the same predetermined weight and center of gravity so that the point of aim of the firearm remains substantially unchanged when a user deploys either the muzzle brake or weight. The system permits convenient interchangeability between the muzzle brake and weight without the need for re-sighting the firearm thereby maintaining accuracy. In some embodiments, the centers of gravity of the muzzle brake and weight are located at the same position with respect to a common reference point defined by the barrel. A method for using the system is also disclosed.

Abstract: A recoil reducing buffer and stock adaptor having a front portion adapted to fit into and connectively engage with the backplate of an H&K-style rifle and a rear portion comprising an aperture adapted to accept and connectively engage with an AR-15/M16 buffer tube. The adaptor attaches to an H&K-style rifle between the action or receiver and the buttstock and allows the rifle to accept and function with a larger and/or stronger H&K-style rifle buffer than its original factory-installed buffer. The adaptor reduces the recoil of an H&K-style rifle by allowing the rifle to function with a larger and/or stronger H&K-style recoil buffer than its original factory-installed buffer. The adaptor also makes substantially all existing H&K-style rifles compatible with substantially all current and existing H&K-style rifle stocks and AR-style rifle stocks and stock accessories.

Abstract: A rifle with an upper receiver and a barrel attached to the upper receiver and including a bolt carrier, and operating, buffer, and cooling systems. The operating system includes a cylinder and a piston coupled to receive propelling gases from the barrel. As the piston moves between retracted and extended positions the bolt carrier is moved between closed and open positions. The bolt carrier includes a weight movable within a guide frame between rearward and forward limits. The buffer system includes a compression spring in a tube attached to the upper receiver in abutting engagement with the bolt carrier. A partially fluid filled cylinder is attached to a coil of the spring and includes a piston and shaft. The piston is formed so that fluid in the cylinder restricts movement in one direction and allows free movement in a second direction.
