Patent number: 12247798Abstract: A firearm activation and monitoring system which tracks, monitors, and automatically prevents a firearm from firing when a user is not in a suitable state of mind or is not an authorized user, as well as a method for activating and monitoring a firearm. The firearm activation and monitoring system generally comprises a firearm having a trigger and grip area, a plurality of biometric sensors located on the grip area which measure biometric data of a user, a trigger interlock, and a main microcontroller. The trigger interlock prevents the trigger from firing the firearm when the trigger interlock is in its normal or default position. To unlock the trigger, the user holds the grip area to activate the biometric sensors, and if the user is in an acceptable mental state, the main microcontroller will send an electrical signal to the trigger interlock, which unlocks the trigger and allows the user to pull the trigger of the firearm.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2022Date of Patent: March 11, 2025Inventor: Sylvia Craig

Patent number: 11940235Abstract: Centuries back, guns were means of hunting. Today, these guns fall into the hands of mentally unstable people, causing random acts of violence such as school shootings. There is no meaningful legislation from the government, despite shootings like Sandy Hook and Uvalde. The proposed apparatus will alert the responsible parties when a firearm is in the vicinity of schools and then produce a loud broadcast to deter the perpetrator. The apparatus uses a GPS module that can track the geolocation of the firearm concerning sensitive areas such as schools. The apparatus configures a safety zone, which if breached activates the alert mechanism. These early alerts will provide all the information to schools and local law enforcement to take immediate action and prevent the incident. Tracking, detection, early alerts, and deterrence are the key elements of my apparatus. Hopefully, these safety features can also drive improvement in design of new guns.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2023Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Inventor: Siddharth Nirgudkar
