  • Patent number: 8409483
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for producing a three-dimensional body consisting of individual solidified layers, whereby a coating material is disposed on one of a carrier plate and an already-solidified layer of the body in a first layer thickness by slidably withdrawing a bottom plate of a storage container filled with the coating material, thereby allowing coating material to descend from the storage container onto the carrier plate or already-solidified layer of the body. The first layer thickness of the coating material is then reduced to a lesser second layer thickness by re-inserting the bottom plate through the coating material disposed on the carrier plate or already-solidified layer. The coating material is then solidified at predetermined locations in order to generate a desired layer contour of one solidified layer of the three-dimensional body.

Abstract: An IMD mold for producing a foil-decorated plastic part contains a half mold facing the foil and a half mold facing away from the foil. The two half molds can be placed on each other with corresponding mold dividing surfaces so as to form a cavity, which is substantially closed off from the outside, therebetween. At least the mold dividing surface of the half mold facing the foil is formed by an inner area surrounding the cavity and an outer area in turn surrounding the inner area. Wherein the mold dividing surface in the outer area lies in an at least substantially flat or one-dimensionally curved mold dividing plane, and wherein the mold dividing surface in the inner area is or can be set back with respect to the mold dividing plane.

Abstract: Disclosed is an insert molding apparatus employed to form a plastic product with an insert. The insert has an inserting unit and an extending unit. The insert molding apparatus comprises a cope plate, a lower die and a holding mechanism. The cope plate is formed with a cavity. The extending unit dips into the cavity. The holding mechanism is installed on the lower die to hold the extending unit of the insert. When the insert molding apparatus of the present invention is opened, the holding mechanism can hold the extending unit of the insert to prevent the plastic product sticking to the cope plate. Accordingly, it is capable to prevent the plastic product crushed when the insert molding apparatus is closed again.

Abstract: The present invention refers to an interchangeable system for support and actuation of rotary injection molds, used for the manufacture of plastic multi-component parts. This system is easily installed on conventional injection molding machines. The support system (13) is constituted by a main body that includes a sliding device and a rotary mechanism. The longitudinal sliding device is driven by cylinders (8 and 23) and is supported by the arms of the support (9, 15). A rotary unit, including motorization (20) is coupled to the sliding device with two rotary support platens, upper (7) and lower (17). The central mold (4) is supported between the rotary support platens (7 and 17). The frontal mold (12) is fixed on the interior part of the support which is in-turn fixed to the machine platen. The rear mold (2) is fixed to the moving platen of the injection machine (1) as usual. The invention permits not only a rapid mold mutation but also an easy reinstallation on different injection machines.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for making a foam-in-place cushion in which a foam-forming composition is dispensed between two plastic film portions in a predetermined fashion to selectively control the distribution of the foam in the cushion. A foam dispenser can be moved in a transverse direction as foam is dispensed. A dispersion device can be employed to apply pressure on predetermined areas of the film portions towards each other so as to cause the composition to be redistributed in position in a predetermined manner while the composition is in a less than fully expanded state. The plastic film can then be sealed closed to form an expanding foam cushion that can be placed into a shipping carton where the cushion expands to fill void space, or into a mold where the cushion expands and is molded into a desired shape.
