  • Patent number: 5989471
Abstract: A BGA mould assembly which can facilitate high degree of control over the clamping force on BGA substrates of varying thickness. An Independent drive is provided for each of the dual in-line cavity bars which clamp the BGA substrates. The drive mechanism is a wedge press which includes a servo motor, and a linear-conversion mechanism coupled to the servo motor to convert the rotation motion of the motor to a linear movement. An input wedge is coupled to the linear-conversion mechanism such that the input wedge moves correspondingly with the linear movement of the linear conversion mechanism. An output wedge is coupled to the cavity bar and positioned such that a horizontal movement by the input wedge causes the output wedge to move downwards. A roller cage is provided at the top and bottom of the input wedge to reduce friction.

Abstract: There is disclosed a built-in motor type electric injection molding apparatus which can prevent a decrease in the output ratings of a metering motor and a injection motor and which enables the selection of optimal drive characteristics corresponding to the load thereof in use. In a metering stage, the metering motor is driven in order to rotate its rotor. The rotation produced by the metering motor is transmitted to a screw via a drive force transmission mechanism, so that the screw is retracted with rotation so as to meter resin. In an injection stage, the injection motor is driven in order to rotate its rotor. The rotational motion produced by the injection motor is converted into linear motion by a motion conversion mechanism, and the linear motion is transmitted to the screw, so that the screw is advanced so as to inject the resin.

Abstract: A contact sensing system senses the contact of two parts, such as the closure of two die parts in a molding machine, and controls a subsequent event such as the introduction of fluent molding material into the mold when closure of the die parts is sensed. One of the die parts is provided with an orifice which is covered by the other die part when the mold is closed. Sensing is achieved by delivering air through the orifice using an air line and sensing the pressure increase in the line when the orifice is closed by the other die part. A control module houses the components of the sensing system and protects the components in hostile environments.

Abstract: A hydraulic press for non-refractory material consisting of a rigid framework and a vertically moveable press pad and horizontally moveable box section. A mold cavity is defined within framework and the press pad is contained within. Moveable box section delivers stock to mold cavity, forms cover over mold cavity during manufacture, and ejects formed unit from framework. A hydraulic cylinder is provided for movement of press pad during compression of unit and to raise unit for ejection from framework. A separate hydraulic cylinder is provided for movement of box section through framework. Both cylinders are fixedly connected to the framework. Hydraulic fluid, directed by solenoid-activated valves, provides movement of cylinders. Control means include an electrical circuit using relays, timmer, pressure actuated valve, and mechanical trip switches.

The molding tool carrier carries at least one molding tool, particularly a pestle for forming the upper surface of the dough piece resting in a hollow of a molding dish. In order to avoid that due to dough adhering to the molding or forming tools dough pieces are placed one upon the other in the molding dish so that by the excessive amount of dough expelled by the molding tool damages in the machine occur, a sensor means is provided for supervising the neighborhood of those zones of the molding dish in which the dough is expelled during normal operation of the machine.
