Abstract: An excessive load detection device for an injection molding machine capable of detecting an excessive load exerted on the injection screw when the screw is driven with resin remaining unmolten in the heating cylinder. An output torque of the servomotor for axially moving the screw is limited to a predetermined value by a torque limiter and the screw is driven to move forward in a direction of injection by a predetermined amount at a predetermined velocity. If reference time elapses before the axial motion of the set amount is completed or a position deviation exceeds a reference value, it is determined that the remaining resin has low fluidity to cause an excessive load on the screw and an alarm is issued. When the axial motion of the screw is completed without an alarm, the screw is moved backward and forward alternately predetermined times. • Patent number: 6276916
Abstract: A failsafe device, or pressure relief mechanism, for a shooting pot actuator in an injection molding machine. The shooting pot actuator has a multiple pusher rods mounted on one, or more, plates. Moving the plate holding the pusher rods depresses the shooting pot injection pistons and injects molten material into a number of mold cavities. To avoid damage to the machine from the pusher rods if an injection piston seizes, a failsafe device is used to mount the pusher rods to the plates. A shearing member is interposed, or sandwiched, between first and second apertures. Typically, the shearing member is a plate that, in normal operating conditions, blocks rearward movement of the pusher rod. However, when a predetermined shear force is applied to the shear plate, the shearing member shears and the pusher rod retracts within the channel, thereby alleviating the pressure.

Abstract: Equipment, in particular pressure gelling equipment, is provided to fill one or more casting molds with castable, liquid materials of which the components are fed by pumps through closable conduits to at least one plunger-cylinder system from where the components are moved to a mixing chamber and from there to the particular casting mold. In order to process especially abrasive casting materials of high viscosity and short pot life, the invention provides that at least one plunger-cylinder system be operated at a pressure substantially higher than are the pumps and that the mixing-chamber volume be comparatively slight.

Abstract: An acceleration pressure is used as set value for the movement of the mass which is to be shifted, such as the mold clamping unit in an injection molding machine. For this purpose it is proposed to use preferably an electrically modulated pressure control valve for the pressure regulating device in the pressure drive system. Even with extremely short acceleration periods resonance oscillations are avoided, which until now prohibited the reduction of the acceleration period. With computing devices the movement of the mass can now be really controlled in relation to a selected velocity profile and/or a position profile or at least a part thereof.

  • Patent number: 5516271
Abstract: In an apparatus for resin transfer molding, the resin is introduced into a heated resin pot, and a piston member is driven through the resin pot to displace the resin into a heated resin line. The temperature of the resin in the resin pot is substantially constant, and is above room temperature but below the catalyzing temperature of the resin. The preheated resin flows from the resin line into a preheater, which heats the resin to molding temperature and catalyzes the resin, and the catalyzed resin is then introduced into the mold cavity of a resin transfer mold containing a structural preform. The resin is maintained at a substantially constant pressure within the heated resin line, and the movement of the piston member is continuously monitored during the resin transfer process. The resin transfer process is terminated when the rate of movement of the piston member decreases below a predetermined minimum value approaching zero.

Abstract: A tire curing press has a cross beam that carries the upper mold section and is moved to open and close the press. When the press is closed, a cross beam locking mechanism located in the middle of the cross beam holds the cross beam to the tire press base that carries the bottom mold section. The locking mechanism prevents bending or bowing of the cross beam which would otherwise adversely affect the quality of the tires produced in the press.

  • Patent number: 5368463
Abstract: A closing unit for injection mold machines is disclosed which generally includes two end plates, guide crosspieces connecting the end plates at a distance from one another, an intermediate plate which is parallel to the end plates and displaceable longitudinally relative to the guide crosspieces and moving cylinders which abut an end plate and act at the intermediate plate via their piston rods. The moving cylinders also displace the intermediate plate along the guide crosspiece in the closing and opening direction to vary its distance from the other end plate. The intermediate plate and the other end plate form a gripping plate for the two mold halves of a form tool which is brought into its closing position by the two gripping plates. Increased closing force may be applied to the form tool at a central die via a pressure cushion insertable between one end plate and the intermediate plate.

Abstract: Flanges are provided on a screw casing and a cylinder member of a screw driving unit in opposition to each other, and coupled with each other with fastening bolts. An adjusting ring is screwed onto the outer circumference of one of the flanges. The screw member is moved together with the ring in a backward direction until the end of the screw hits. The ring is rotated thereafter to bring it into contact with a side of the other flange, where a datum position is established. The cylinder member is then retreated an adequate amount in this state, and the ring is moved by a specified quantity. The specified quantity, represents the stroke quantity and bolts are fastened so that the ring comes into contact with the side of the other flange. The screw is thereby adjusted in its stroke.

Abstract: An operating time analyzing apparatus capable of automatically determining, storing, and analyzing the operating time of an injection molding machine for each operating condition. This apparatus detects the operating conditions of the injection molding machine through internal processing with a PMCCPU 14 for the sequence control of the injection molding machine. While specific operating conditions are detected, fine times .DELTA.t, execution cycles of the internal processing, are added in succession. By doing this, integrated time for each operating condition, that is, operating time for each operating condition, is calculated. This operating time is stored in a nonvolatile RAM 8 for each operating condition of the injection molding machine through the processing by the PMCCPU 14.
