Abstract: A machine suitable for use in removing seams from cup handles comprises means in the form of a turntable for carrying a plurality of sponges, viz. four, step-by-step successively through a series of operating stations at two of which smoothing operations are preformed on the handles and at two others of which the sponges are cleaned automatically to avoid such build up of clay material on them as will interfere with the satisfactory operation of the machine. Each sponge of the machine has a passage of suitably profiled cross-section through which each handle is caused to traverse first one way and then the other in the operation of the machine.
Abstract: A machine for covering electronic components with a low-pressure molding compound while said components are carried by a strip comprises a closing unit assembly, which is rotatable on an axis of rotation and comprises two angularly spaced apart, C-shaped closing sub units, each of which has an open side remote from said axis of rotation and comprises mold means and is operable to open and close said mold means. Each of said closing sub-units is operable to a first position, in which its mold means are adapted to enclose electronic components carried by a strip and to receive said molding compound to cover said components, and to a second position, in which its mold means are open. Said closing unit assembly is operable to move said closing sub-units in alternation to said first position and to move each closing sub-unit to said second position while moving the other closing sub-unit to said first position.
Abstract: Briefly the invention comprises a rotary sprayer useful for cleaning circular dies. The rotary sprayer comprises a pair of rotary unions each including a base portion, a cylinder portion upraised therefrom and a hollow rotor portion rotatingly mounted in said cylinder portion thereof, said unions being positioned with their bases in opposed adjacent relation. A pair of hollow spray arms, the hollow portions of which each communicate with the hollow portion of one of said rotors, each of said spray arms ending in a nozzle also form a part of the invention. A pair of passages, one through the cylinder portion of each of said unions, said passages each communicating with the hollow portion of the respective rotor form another part of the rotary sprayer of the invention. Also part of the invention are means for supplying a pressurized gas to each of said passages or a pressurized liquid to each of said passages and means for preventing simultaneous supply of air and liquid to each of said passages.
