  • Patent number: 7361012
Abstract: The present invention is a multiple-level stack mold for balancing the injection of molten plastic from an injection molding machine to a plurality of cavities, at least one cavity on each level of the multiple-level stack mold, for producing plastic parts facing in the same direction. Cavity plates are assembled in the multiple-level stack mold all facing in a first direction, and either core plates or plates having inserts thereon are assembled in the multiple-level stack mold all facing in a second direction. The clamping mechanism simultaneously moves the cavity plates and the core plates into engagement. Molten plastic is then evenly and simultaneously injected and distributed through a plurality of channels and passages, such that the flow of molten plastic is balanced throughout the system. Thereafter, the cavity plates and the core plates are simultaneously separated, thereby allowing removal of the resulting plastic parts, which are all facing in the same direction.

Abstract: This invention provides a method of forming a mold (20) including the steps of segmenting a surface to be molded into discrete adjacent linear sections, forming a profile of each section on an edge of a planar material to define a plurality of blades (30, 40, 50), and; stacking each blade (30, 40, 50) such that their profiled mold edges (34, 44, 54) together form the surface to be molded. The blades (30, 40, 50) are secured in a mold body (20) and selected ones of the blades (30, 40, 50) may be articulated to eject the molded article from the mold (20).

  • Patent number: 5662945
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming plastic hollow articles such as containers which includes a turret that includes an upper head and a lower head, each of which supports circumferentially spaced sets of core rods. The heads are rotated about a vertical axis and also are moved upwardly and downwardly about the vertical axis for positioning the core rods within the cavities of upper injection mold and upper blow mold and a lower set of injection and a lower set of blow molds. Each mold has an upper half and a lower half. The lower half of the upper mold is mounted in fixed position and the upper half of the lower mold is mounted in fixed position. The upper half of the upper mold and the lower half of the lower mold are movable axially vertically toward and away from their respective fixed mold halves to close about parisons on the core rods.

  • Patent number: 4884962
Abstract: The present invention provides in a stack mold with back to back centrally located mold cavities a multiple sprue bar arrangement including a pair of sprue bars balanced on opposite sides of the mold and connecting bridge across the sprue bars for interfacing to a plastic injector. At least one of the sprue bars provides a plastic flow path from the connecting bridge to the mold cavities.

  • Patent number: 4744741
Abstract: A molding apparatus for making a plastics pipe fitting or pipe coupling by injection-molding the plastics pipe fitting or coupling body, injection-molding at least one sealing ring separately but substantially simultaneously, and bringing the body and sealing ring together directly after the molding while these components are still in a hot as-molded state, so that a direct thermal bond is formed between them comprises respective injection-molding cavities for the body and sealing ring, and a reversible support for carrying the sealing ring out of its mold and into contact with the molded body. The respective molds are opened and the components are not stripped but are brought together for bonding while still in position on respective mold members, thereby eliminating intermediate handling and ensuring that the molded components remain clean and of accurate shape and dimension as they are brought together.

  • Patent number: 4726753
Abstract: In an apparatus for producing moulded articles, particularly of plastic, by means of a mould formed from individual mould parts (3, 4, 5) optionally fixed to mounting surfaces, support parts, etc and which, following a closed position, move during the moulding process into an open position by a stroke c in a direction x a working device, e.g. a demoulding, charging, cleaning and/or similar device is introduced into the gap (6, 7) formed between the faces of the mould parts. With at least two mould parts (3, 4 and/or 5) is associated in each case a slide (I, II and/or III) movable by a stroke d in a y-direction for introducing the working devices. As a function of the movement of at least one mould part (3, 4 and/or 5), or its mounting surface (1, 2), support part (18, 19), etc, the slide (I, II and/or III) perform the stroke d in the y-direction.

  • Patent number: 4382053
Abstract: The hot pressing of ceramic material in dies forming a column, each die being shaped to interfit and cooperate with adjacent dies to cause densification of ceramic material within the dies when pressure is applied to the column. The column of dies is passed intermittently through a fixed, heated zone and pressure is applied to the column intermittently to move the dies through the heated zone and, as a separate step, to compress the column and cause densification of ceramic material in the dies.
