Plural Distinct Cutters Patents (Class 425/306)
  • Patent number: 4692108
Abstract: This invention relates to a mold for the covering and trimming of plastics products, particularly of panels for the inside upholstery of motor vehicles. The object of the invention is to avoid that the covering material (4), spread over a heated sheet of plastics material intended to constitute the product (3) to be covered, may be pinched between two side knives (8) associated with two substantially rectilinear sides of the outline of the product (3) and converging to each other toward a preferably rounded corner of said product (3). To achieve this object, at the angle between the two side knives (8) associated with the converging substantially rectilinear sides, there is arranged a knife (8') which is shaped correspondingly to said corner, and the ends of which slidably engage the outer planar surfaces of tapered end extensions (108) of the side knives (8). Means (9, 9', 10, 10') are provided for displacing simultaneously the side knives (8) and interposed shaped knife (8').

  • Patent number: 4685878
Abstract: Dough pieces are produced in high volume by a plurality of dual extruders spaced across a conveyor and each having a pair of extrusion nozzles aligned in the direction of conveyor travel. A cut-off mechanism severs the dough extrusions to deposit dough pieces on the conveyor. The speed of the conveyor is related to the speed of the cut-off mechanism so that the dough pieces produced by each extruder form a single uniformly spaced line. The extruders are fed from a common supply through individual inlets and means are provided to balance the flow through the nozzles.

  • Patent number: 4648822
Abstract: Disclosed is a pneumatically powered automatic apparatus and method for subdividing one or more loaves of dough supported in a partitioned single use, nonmetallic tray at a processing station intermediate the opposite ends of a conveyor. A tray of dough is introduced into the apparatus as a tray of subdivided dough exits onto the conveyor. The dough divider functions to draw the skin of the roll of dough from the upper and lower sides thereof permanently into closely spaced relation between adjacent subdivisions of dough thereby leaving the subdivisions connected solely by a web which is readily frangible when the dough is baked. The dough subdivider operates dry and free of lubricant. Trays of dough exiting from the apparatus are maintained frozen and wrapped until ready for the oven at either a local or a distant consumption site.

  • Patent number: 4634363
Abstract: Apparatus for slitting and folding dough for cross-panning of the dough piece. One or more incisions are made in the dough piece so that it can be folded, and according to the method of the invention, after the incisions have been formed, the dough piece travels to the dough folding station between a moving element and a stationary control member (which may be a spring loaded control plate) so that the dough piece is forced to turn about its longitudinal axis. The length of this control movement is so arranged that the angular displacement of the dough piece causes the dough hinge or hinges to be in a desired orientation when the dough piece arrives at the folding station. In W-folding the center dough hinge is displaced from the side dough hinges by 180.degree., and the method and apparatus ensures that the dough piece is presented to the dough folding arrangement with the side dough hinges on the leading side of the dough piece.

  • Patent number: 4500276
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously forming pizza crusts, particularly deep dish pizza crusts having substantially vertical sidewalls, in pizza pans of corresponding shape. A ribbon of deep dish pizza dough is formed and superimposed on a conveyor comprising flights including upstanding cutting rings within which pizza pans to be filled are disposed. A roller passing over the cutting rings severs dough disks disposed within each cutting ring; the dough disks drop into each pizza pan. Each pan is then registered with a diaphragm which is inflated to urge each dough disk into intimate conformity with the pan, then the diaphragm is withdrawn from the pan, leaving a finished crust. A carriage periodically moves the diaphragm in the contra-machine direction to engage the following flight. The pans are then removed from the conveyor flights to recover pan and pizza crust assemblies.

Abstract: A web of thermoplastic foam material is carried through an oven by an intermittently traveling conveyor engaging or gripping opposite sides of the web. The heated web is successively advanced by the conveyor between cooled heat-absorbing forming molds, which are moved toward each other to form the foam article and away from each other to release the article. A heat trimmer melts or vaporizes the leading and trailing ends of the foam material as compressed and formed by the molds, to form the marginal leading and trailing ends of the articles to the required peripheral form determined by the leading and trailing ends or edges of the molds and to separate the leading and trailing ends of the article from the web. The cooled molds, which may be made of a heat-conducting metal, such as aluminum, absorb the heat of melting as they pressurize the material along its edges and thereby determine the leading and trailing margins of the article.
