Abstract: A method and apparatus provides for the formation of compression dosage units from tableting feedstock. A feedstock dossiter is provided including an open ended chamber for insertion into a reservoir containing the tableting feedstock. The dossiter includes a movable die punch which is movable within the chamber between at least two positions. A first position away from the open end of the chamber provides for the collection of a preselected volume of tableting feedstock from the reservoir. The die punch is movable to a second position which effects formation of the tablet within the accumulation chamber. The dossiter shown herein may be used in combination with a fixed die punch to form the tablet.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for the formation of a tablet from tableting feedstock. An elongate die is provided which has a cavity defined by an inner wall. A pair of die punches are insertably positioned within the cavity. The die punches include opposed facing surfaces for supporting therebetween tableting feedstock. The die punches are relatively movable within the cavity to a tablet forming position to compress the feedstock into a tablet. The tablet forming positions defined by the facing die punch surfaces are spaced apart sufficient distance so as to maintain the formed tablet in contact with the inner wall of the cavity so as to retain the tablet within the cavity upon removal of the die punches.

  • Patent number: 5525278
Abstract: The recycling of used polyurethane foam is made possible by a process in which the starting material is first dried to a moisture content of 2 to 4% and is then filled into a multi-part mold (16, 17, 18) that defines the molded part (32). The parts of the mold (16, 17, 18) are then, with generation of the necessary compression pressure of below 20 N/mm.sup.2, pressed together and locked. These molds (16, 17, 18) that are subject to the compression pressure are heated in a tunnel furnace (20) so that the molding material reaches a temperature of approximately 130.degree. C. After a predefined holding time, the molds (16, 17, 18) can be opened under pressure and the molded parts (32) can be removed. Molded parts (32) with a thickness of 42 mm and of corresponding size have been produced successfully with this process. Instead of the molds (16, 17, 18), it is also possible that a two-part tool is used.

Abstract: A monitoring system provides a method of operating a compression plastic molding apparatus which entails substantially continuously monitoring the position of an upper compression cam of the apparatus, against which a rotatably movable mold assembly reacts during operation of the apparatus. By monitoring the position of the compression cam, the system is able to detect excessive loading of the apparatus, such as attendant to depositing of excessive plastic material in the mold assembly. A force determining device, illustrated in the form of a fluid pressure (pneumatic) cylinder, is operatively connected with the compression cam, with the system operating to release pressure in the cylinder in the event that the compression cam is moved in a manner which indicates excessive loading of the plastic mold assembly.

Abstract: An apparatus for forming a generally cylindrical two-layer, vertically-compressed tablet having a longitudinal axis longer than its diameter is provided in which a generally cylindrical die cavity is provided on a die table with the longitudinal axis of the die cavity being vertically disposed. An upper punch provided above the die cavity rides on an upper cam assembly which controls the movement of the upper punch to and from the die cavity. A lower punch provided below the die cavity rides on a lower cam assembly which raises and lowers the lower punch relative to the die cavity. Abstract: An adjustable powder flow gate for a rotary pellet press has a movable gate wherein one dimensional motion of the gate across an opening in a powder flow feed frame on the rotating turret of the press is effected with a rotatable shaft having a screw connection to a member attached to the gate. The shaft is maintained in a selected rotational position with a bias member that is movable between an engaged and a disengaged position. The bias member is adapted to engage a selected detent on a member attached to the shaft having several circumferentially spaced detents when the bias member is in the engaged position. The shaft can freely rotate when the bias member is in the disengaged position. An operator can easily adjust the size of the opening by first disengaging the bias member from the selected detent, turning the shaft to move the gate to the desired position, and then engaging the bias member into a newly selected detent.

Abstract: A ceramic laminate, which is obtained by stacking ceramic green sheets provided with conductor films distributed on central portions along surface directions thereof, is charged in a die assembly. The die assembly includes an upper punch for pressing a first major surface of the ceramic laminate, a frame which encloses peripheries of the upper punch and the ceramic laminate, and a base plate for pressing a second major surface of the ceramic laminate in a manner opposite to the upper punch. In order to prevent the conductor films from undergoing misregistration toward peripheral edge portions of the ceramic laminate due to flowing of ceramic caused by a pressure difference between the portions provided with the conductor films and those not provided with conductor films, the upper punch is divided into an outer peripheral portion which comes into contact with the peripheral edge portions of the ceramic laminate and a body portion which comes into contact with its central portion.
