Abstract: The invention relates to a rotary press with anti-rotation secured shafts and exchangeable punches attached thereto. The rotary press comprises a punch turn which is universally ensured with the use of anti-rotation secured punch shafts, meaning, not only with rotation-symmetrical but also with roll-guided punches, is solved in such a way that the exchangeable punch is executed in a rotational manner, where a circumferential recess in the stem of the punch is envisaged, into which a component such as a spring thrust piece engages for the purpose of fixation, and that the shell surface of the exchangeable punch indicates a zone which interacts with a zone of the external component, either force-locking or positive locking, in such a way that the punch receives a turning movement at a defined point of the pitch circle of the punch circumference.

  • Patent number: 6890168
Abstract: A biaxial press molding system includes a cam apparatus having cams facing each other, and a biaxial press apparatus, disposed between the cams and installed to be capable of sliding contacting the cams, for forming a biaxial pressure to a molding object by converting rotational motion of the cams to linear reciprocating motion. Thus, a repulsive force generated during pressing concentrates only on the rotation shaft, so that an optimal design of the frame and a light system are possible. The upper and lower pressure continuously applied to a pressed object can be changed and the maximum pressure can be freely maintained, increased and decreased by forming upper and lower portions at the frictional surfaces of the cams facing each other. Also, a fine control of pressure is possible, the pressure can be appropriately distributed according to part of the pressed object, and mass production of accurate molding products is possible by controlling the pressing point of time.

Abstract: A multiply-acting powder metal press is disclosed for making green form double helical gear compacts. The press has inner and outer lower punches, and an upper, outer punch. The upper and lower outer punches have left hand and right hand external helical profiles as chosen to produce a desired helical gear. The punches co-operate with left hand and right hand helical dies carried by the press about the punches. The helical faces require that the dies rotate relative to the punches during operation. A cam and roller mechanism may drive this rotation. The compact forming process commences with an open position in which powder is introduced to a vacant lower die cavity. The upper portions of the press advance downward to close the cavity. All parts of the press except the lower inner, or transfer, punch then move downward at the same speed to transfer powder to the extremities of the cavity. When transfer is complete both lower punches may be stopped, while the upper punches continue to advance.

The tablet forming positions defined by the facing die punch surfaces are spaced apart sufficient distance so as to maintain the formed tablet in contact with the inner wall of the cavity so as to retain the tablet within the cavity upon removal of the die punches.

Abstract: A machine for pressing earth into blocks has a rectangular breech and a press foot vertically reciprocally drivable in the breech. A bucking block is horizontally reciprocally drivable into and out of registration with an open upper end of the breech. Portions of the upper surface of the bucking block are tapered upwardly from front to rear and a horizontal bucking bar extends across the breech and bears downwardly against the tapered upper portions of the bucking block when the bucking block is in registration with the breech. The bucking bar can be supported at selectively variable levels above the breech and assures a firm positioning of the block against the force of the earth being compacted by the press foot. A rod extending vertically from and movable with the press foot cooperates with a sight line device fixed to the machine to facilitate visual determination of the elevation of the press foot within the breech.

Abstract: An adjustable powder flow gate for a rotary pellet press has a movable gate wherein one dimensional motion of the gate across an opening in a powder flow feed frame on the rotating turret of the press is effected with a rotatable shaft having a screw connection to a member attached to the gate. The shaft is maintained in a selected rotational position with a bias member that is movable between an engaged and a disengaged position. The bias member is adapted to engage a selected detent on a member attached to the shaft having several circumferentially spaced detents when the bias member is in the engaged position. The shaft can freely rotate when the bias member is in the disengaged position. An operator can easily adjust the size of the opening by first disengaging the bias member from the selected detent, turning the shaft to move the gate to the desired position, and then engaging the bias member into a newly selected detent.
