  • Patent number: 6099282
Abstract: The present invention relates to a die for use in textile processes involving nonwoven melt blown fabrics. In a melt blown process, molten polymer resin is injected into a melt blown die and ejected from the die in the form of filaments. The present invention is directed to an improved die nosepiece comprising a multiplicity of adjacent holes offset with respect to each other at an angle greater than or equal to 5.degree. and less than 90.degree., through which resin filaments are ejected.

  • Patent number: 5614276
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for extruding a product which comprs a longitudinal component, e.g. a tubular sheet and/or longitudinal filaments in a circular array, and transverse filaments which follow a helical path relative to the longitudinal component, whereby the product may consist of a lattice or a reinforced sheet material. The transverse filaments are formed by cooperation between two die parts (101; 102) to which relative movement is imparted so that one part (102) performs a rocking motion progressing around a circular path to influence the extrusion orifice, without rotation of the die parts.

  • Patent number: 4294646
Abstract: The invention provides a process and apparatus for manufacturing flat plastic net. Tubular plastic net is made by extruding plastic material through coaxial circular counter-rotating die members to form a net structure having a plurality of crossing strands. The angular displacement of successive longitudinally-aligned junctions of the crossing strands is controlled, preferably by controlling the relative counter-rotation of the extrusion die members, and successive longitudinally aligned junctions are cut longitudinally within each junction. The tubular net so cut is opened out to form flat net.The flat net so produced, the edges of which are characterized by successive longitudinal edge junctions, in which each edge junction is cut longitudinally within the junction, is particularly useful for fencing material, for example.

  • Patent number: 4083667
Abstract: Apparatus for extruding tubular plastic netting including concentric, counterrotatable inner and outer dies mounted in a housing with a space therein for the downward flow of molten plastic to a circular series of holes in each of the dies leading to their respective extrusion orifices, the apparatus having means for splitting the downward flow of plastic into two separate streams, one for the extrusion orifices of the inner die and the other for the extrusion orifices of the outer die, this means being formed substantially to equalize the rate of flow of the plastic to the extrusion orifices. The apparatus is also shown as including a seal arrangement in which a first and a second set of wedge seals protect bearings journalling one of the dies in the housing from the plastic, with the provision of a vent between the sets of seals so as to prevent application of pressure to the second set of seals in the vent the first set leaks.

  • Patent number: 3959057
Abstract: A means and method for producing plastic netting wherein a hot pneumatic fluid such as nitrogen is used to blow filaments of one circular row of plastic filaments into contact with another circular row of plastic filaments which rows are concentric with each other and being rotated in opposite directions by a respective pair of counter-rotating dies. The hot pneumatic fluid is preferably an inert gas such as nitrogen and serves to anneal the plastic at the weld intersections of the filaments as well as to prevent oxidation during the period when the filaments are quite hot.

  • Patent number: 3952127
Abstract: An extruded integral plastics net structure comprising first sets of spaced parallel strands, second sets of spaced parallel strands extending transversely thereto, the sets of strands being joined together at all or certain of their points of intersection to form a net structure wherein the intersection points along any one strand are in the alternating forms of any two of the following: (a) integral masses of mirror image symmetry about the median plane of the net, (b) assymetrical junctions in which there is substantially only linear contact and adhesion between the strands and (c) symmetrical junctions having only linear contact with little or no adhesion between the strands.
