Patent number: 6412399Abstract: Apparatus and method for cooking snack food pieces features a drum-type fryer which transports individual, die-cut piece preforms through hot oil contained within a cooking tank defined between the periphery of the drum and a housing in which the drum is contained. Vacuum transfer and feed rollers transfer the individual piece preforms from a die-cutting roller assembly onto the drum for cooking, and a similar roller transfers the cooked snack food pieces from the drum to a take-away conveyor for subsequent, downstream processing. The pieces are retained by suction against molding surfaces of frying mold elements distributed over the periphery of the frying drum.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2000Date of Patent: July 2, 2002Assignee: Recot, Inc.Inventors: Lawrence Graham, Ponnattu Kurian Joseph, Todd Charles McNeel, Kenneth R. Brocker, Stephen N. Forti, Edward J. Goldman, Malcolm E. Taylor, Edward L. Dickinson, Patsy Anthony Coppola, Richard F. Terrazzano, Andrew C. Harvey

Publication number: 20020047228Abstract: The present invention proposes an apparatus for pressure molding multi-layer footwear for use in the field of sport footwear. The apparatus for pressure molding multi-layer footwear has two pressure forming receptacles, each having an inflatable vessel therein. The inflatable vessel is shaped and adapted to surround sides of the footwear, such as a skate. The inflatable vessel has an opening for receiving the skate and an air inlet for inflating the inflatable vessel. The apparatus may further has an air supply device connectable to a control system that will manage the airflow into the inflatable vessel to create the desired pressure onto the skate in order to provide a custom-fit skate.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 1, 2001Publication date: April 25, 2002Applicant: SPORT MASKA INC.Inventors: Luc Vachon, Claude Prevost

Patent number: 6355191Abstract: A method and apparatus for preparing single layer tiles or slabs from a mixture of a granulated stone material having a selected particle size, and from a slurry formed by cement, a quantity of between 0.25 and 0.36 parts by weight of water relative to the weight of cement, and a plasticizer for cementitious slurries, in which the quantity of slurry added is slightly in excess of the quantity corresponding to the void fraction of the granulated material, in forming mould, containing a layer of predetermined thickness of the mixture, to be subjected to a first very short deaeration step under the effect of a very high vacuum and to a subsequent vibration step under a lower vacuum, after which the mould goes on to seeing and hardness steps.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1997Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Inventor: Marcello Toncelli

Patent number: 6347536Abstract: The device includes a housing, a means for heating the housing, and a means for supporting, in the housing, at least one group composed of plates of malleable material under pressure at the temperature established in the housing. Moreover, the group includes generally flat molds and each mold includes at least one non malleable pitted surface under pressure at said temperature. The molds are inserted between the plates. Means are envisaged to apply a roughly uniform pressure, oriented perpendicularly to the surface of the plates to the entire group. This pressure is suitable for causing the production of convex surfaces of microlenses on the sides of the plates, which are opposite said pitted surfaces of the molds.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1999Date of Patent: February 19, 2002Assignee: Corning IncorporatedInventors: Pierre V. Patent number: 6338618Abstract: An apparatus for forming an article from at least one layer of formable material includes a mold for receiving the at least one layer of formable material. The mold has first and second thin mold sections and a seal associated with at least one of the mold sections for effecting a sufficiently sealed relationship between the mold sections. Each mold section has a non-planar configuration, and one mold section has at least one aperture. A vacuum source is in fluid communication with the at least one aperture for applying a vacuum pressure to the at least one aperture when the mold sections are sufficiently sealed together in order to reduce air pressure within the mold. As a result, ambient air pressure is used to forcefully bias the mold sections sufficiently together so as to form the at least one layer of formable material to a contour corresponding to the non-planar configurations of the mold sections.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2000Date of Patent: January 15, 2002Assignee: Lear CorporationInventors: Jack M.
