Including Means Varying Pressure Of Male Shaping Member During Pressing Patents (Class 425/419)
  • Patent number: 8926302
Abstract: An adjustable food press for making a wide variety of hot and cold sandwiches and other foods that are compressed during preparation. The food press has a dome and a handle assembly, attached to a pressing plate inside the dome, that adjusts the position of the pressing plate to the desired sandwich thickness. Once positioned, the handle assembly is locked in position, holding the pressing plate in place until the sandwich is ready. When the pressing plate is released, the dome is left in place to keep the food warm, or removed and used on the same or a different sandwich style. The food press functions with a variety of flat-surfaced cooking equipment used to prepare hot and cold food. The dome prevents spatter of grease and food particles on surrounding surfaces. The pressing plate is removable for cleaning or for interchanging with a different style of pressing plate.

Abstract: A metal shavings and chips compactor for extruding oil from metal chips and shavings and compacting the metal into easily transportable pellets. A compactor cylinder contains a piston and has an opening through which an auger feeds metal chips and shavings. A gate closes an end of the cylinder. A first hydraulic drive drives the piston under low pressure to close the opening and apply a first compacting pressure on the metal to form a loosely compacted pellet in the cylinder. High pressure then operates the piston to form a compact metal pellet substantially void of interstices. A second hydraulic drive opens the gate; the piston is operated at low pressure to discharge the compact metal pellet from the chamber and oil is collected below the cylinder. The compacting pressures are achieved through mechanical advantages provided by the size of the piston to that of the first hydraulic drive.

Abstract: An isostatic pressurizing bag for consolidating a composite part has an outer flexible elastomer having a fixed resilient outside surface. The outer elastomer surrounds a closed chamber. A thermally expandable inner elastomer is located in the closed chamber. The inner elastomer is selected as an elastomer that can viscously flow or move in response to pressure. The outer elastomer is capable of flexure to relieve expansion of the inner elastomer. The bag is formed by curing plies of uncured silicone rubber around either a silicone gel or a particulated silicone rubber that is capable of phase change to a flowable gel in response to pressure. In use a composite prepreg is overlaid on a surface that defines the shape of a desired part. The isostatic pressurizing bag is located over the prepreg trapping the prepreg between the pressurizing bag and the surface.

Abstract: For forming a resin-impregnated, fiber reinforced composite material sheet having laminated meshes of fibers into a U-shaped cross section, the sheet is placed onto a stationary forming die and an auxiliary forming die with the fibers of the sheet forming angles of approximately 45.degree. relative to opposite edges of an upper reference forming surface of the stationary die. Then, the sheet is pressed from above by a pneumatically expandable, elastic depressing die, whereby the auxiliary forming die is lowered against a resilient force relative to the stationary forming die. As the sheet is pressed further downwardly by the depressing die, the parts of the sheet which are to form flanges of the product are firmly held between the depressing die and the auxiliary forming die and bent downwards while the parts are subjected to extending forces in directions to prevent creases and lines from being formed by means of auxiliary forming ridges on the auxiliary forming die.

Abstract: An adjustable powder compacting device for compacting a powder such as a cosmetic powder includes a control unit which electrically monitors and controls a hydraulic ram operated punch to compress the powder into a cup. These preset speeds and pressures are easily adjusted so that proper evacuation of gases from the powder and optimal compacting is readily achievable when the consistency of the powder changes. Abstract: A motor-operated, direct-pressure type mold clamping apparatus is capable of high-speed mold closing and opening operations and of producing a required mold clamping force, without the use of a large-sized motor. In the mold opening and closing operations, a ball screw, in engagement with a ball nut which is movable in one with a moving platen, is rotated at high speed by a motor through gears and a clutch, so that a die is opened and closed at high speed. In a mold clamping operation, the ball screw is driven with a large rotatory force transmitted through a clutch and gears which, having a high reduction ratio, serve to increase the rotatory force of the motor. Thus, dies are clamped with a large clamping force.
