  • Patent number: 6126880
Abstract: A plunger tool for producing a special prophylactic is disclosed. The special features of the plunger tool reside in the special curvatures in its shaped section. The shaped section of the plunger tool exhibits an extreme narrowing, at the deepest point of which there may be at least one annular groove. Unlike prior art transitions, the transition from the large diameter to the reservoir section is not steep and straight but takes the form of an S-shaped curve. An exact contour of the annular grooves on the surface of the plunger tool is essential for their production and can be done only by the use of a precision diamond abrasive point.

  • Patent number: 5693348
Abstract: A disc molding die includes a stationary-side mirror block disposed on a stationary die, a movable-side mirror block disposed on a movable die and facing the stationary-side mirror block so as to define a cavity in combination with the stationary-side mirror block, and a cavity ring disposed on the radially outer side of one of the stationary-side mirror block and the movable-side mirror block so as to define the outer circumferential edge of each disc substrate. The portion of the cavity ring facing the cavity is roughened. When resin is charged into a cavity, very small spaces are formed between the resin and the inner circumferential surface of the cavity ring, due to the roughened portion of the cavity ring facing the cavity. Therefore, the release resistance during die opening or releasing can be decreased.

  • Patent number: 4880587
Abstract: An injection molded part of thermoplastic material, in particular an information carrier disk, is produced by cutting and removal of a sprue part from the injection molded part. The sprue removal leaves an opening in the injection molded part. In order to obtain a clean and smooth opening surface with a fit diameter that is as accurate as possible, the sprue part is axially offset relative to the injection molded part so that the integral connection between these two parts extends only over a part of the opening. The diameter of the axially projecting part is equal to or larger than the diameter of the opening and the rest of the opening being produced by injection molding. The dimensions are advantageously chosen so that a parting edge inclined at an angle of 45.degree. to the plane of the opening is formed and that the injection molded part amounts to 70% and the part to be separated to 30% of the length of the opening. The injection molded length of the opening may also be variable.

  • Patent number: 4719059
Abstract: A material handling device for transferring a formed good from an injection molding machine includes a pair of spaced tracks. Inner ends of the tracks are positioned below a mold carried by the machine with the track positioned transversely to opening and closing movement of the mold by the machine. On the track is a slidable basket which may be moved from the track inner end to an outer end away from the machine. Basket movement may be effected by activation of a pneumatic drive formed as part of the track and attached to the basket. During forming of a good, the basket is moved under the mold. When forming is complete, the mold opens and the good ejected. The good falls into the basket which has a cushion-like surface to inhibit damage. Opening of the mold starts a first timing period which lapses to activate the pneumatic drive to move the basket and good to the track outer end for good removal. During this first timing period the mold closes to begin a next forming cycle.

A brief interruption of the transfer movement, obtained by means of a stop-start mechanism responsive to the die assembly transfer movement, allows for the piston rod to be extended into, or retracted from, the engagement cavity.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for the fabrication of cylindrical structures (26) by filament winding of resin impregnated filaments around a novel cylindrical mandrel assembly (10) whereby the mandrel assembly (10) and fabricated cylindrical structure (26) are easily separated after curing of the resin impregnated materials. The invention utilizes an inner, hollow cylindrical mandrel member (11) onto which a metal cable (12) is wound over afterwhich segmented outer mandrel sections (13) are connected to the inner mandrel member by fastener devices (20) installed from the inner side of the inner mandrel member (14). The resin impregnated filament is then wound over the outer mandrel segments (13) and cured in a conventional manner. After curing, the fasteners (20) are removed from the inner side of the inner mandrel (11), and the cable (12) is removed by pulling it from one end of the mandrel assembly (10).
