  • Patent number: 9011137
Abstract: A mold and method for making a hollow core concrete block. The mold has two opposing side walls; a bottom wall; a front wall; a top side with an opening through which the block can be removed from the mold; a cover, and a rear side through which liquid, such as concrete, can be poured into the mold. Extending from the two side walls are a pair of trunnions about which the mold is rotatable, such that when the mold is suspended by the trunnions and the mold is empty, gravity rotates the mold from a block-removal orientation in which the top side faces upwards to a mold-filling orientation in which the rear side faces upwards. The trunnions are also positioned such that when the mold is filled with the liquid, gravity rotates the mold from the mold-filling orientation to the block-removal orientation.

  • Patent number: 8894397
Abstract: In a process and a device for producing blocks of expanded polystyrene, a loose mass (7) of polystyrene spheres is expanded in a mold (2-3), where a rear surface (9) of the polystyrene block (8) previously produced delimits the mold forming chamber. Therefore, through adherence the newly formed block (7-8) is joined to the rear end (9) of the block previously formed, and the block (8) made in this way is fed forward until it forms the rear end (9) for another newly expanded block (8), and so on to produce a sort of continuous block (8), which can be formed for cutting to any desired size, without producing any waste.

Abstract: A pipe mold assembly is composed of a mold and a pin block. The mold can be composed of two sides. The bottom side of the mold contains an insert for forming the bowl of the pipe. The insert can be conical shaped and indented to form a lip. A pin block is inserted between the top and bottom sides of the mold to create a smoking channel. The pin block can form a carburetor if the pins are long enough. The pipe is formed by placing the pin block on a flat surface, surrounding the pin block with the mold, and pouring an edible solution into the opening. Once the solution is sufficiently cool, the pin-block and mold are removed.

Abstract: A foaming die device is provided, which has a closure element rotatably provided therein. The foaming die device allows a three-dimensional trim cover assembly with an opening defined therein to be placed therein and also allows a liquid foaming agent to be injected into an inside of so placed trim cover assembly for foaming operation. In operation, when the trim cover assembly is placed in foaming die device prior to the foaming operation, the closure element is able to be rotated toward and easily inserted in the opening to prevent leakage of the liquid foaming agent therethrough, whereas, when the trim cover assembly is taken out from the foaming die device subsequent to the foaming operation, the closure element is able to be rotated and easily removed from that opening.

  • Patent number: 7306451
Abstract: An improved forming tool apparatus for forming an article having a negative draft angle that locks the formed article within the forming tool. First and second forming tools are closed relative one another to define a forming tool cavity in which the article is formed and opened for removal of the formed article from the forming tool cavity. The first forming tool has a removable cavity wall segment having an undercut cavity wall that provides a desired shape to the formed article but locks the formed article against removal from the forming tool cavity. A pivot linkage normally establishes the removable wall segment in a forming position in which the undercut wall is poised for forming of the article and selectively pivots the removable wall segment out of the forming position when the forming tools are opened so that the undercut wall is pivotally lifted and releases the formed article for removal from the cavity.

Abstract: A structure of foaming die for forming a generally inverted-L-shaped headrest, which is designed to receive and enclose an incomplete headrest unit comprising a hollow trim cover assembly of a generally “inverted L” shape having a horizontal upper portion and a vertical head support portion, and at least one headrest stay extending vertically from the horizontal upper portion. This die structure includes die surface portions workable for receiving and enclosing a whole of the hollow trim cover assembly. A movable die element is movably provided so as to be movable toward and away from an operative position where the movable die element is normally set to receive a back cover surface region of such head support portion, thereby allowing the movable die element to be moved away from the operative position and thus allowing a resulting headrest to be removed from the die subsequent to a foaming process.

Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing lightweight concrete composite blocks includes a form, a station conveyor, a form-loading station, a form assembly station, a curing oven, and a block removal station. The station conveyor conveys the form or a multitude of forms around the apparatus in a continuous loop to produce a desired rate of production of lightweight concrete composite blocks. The form-loading station fills the form with a lightweight concrete composite. The form assembly station assembles the form to seal the composite within the form. The curing oven cures the lightweight concrete composite into a lightweight concrete composite block. The block removal station removes the lightweight concrete composite block from the form prior to the return of the form to the form-loading station for re-use.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing unitary concrete blocks includes a form that defines the desired shape of the unitary concrete block. A form loading station delivers a lightweight concrete composite into the form. A station conveyor conveys the form from the form loading station through a curing oven. In the curing oven, the composite-filled form is cured into a unitary concrete block. The station conveyor conveys the form to a block removal station that removes the unitary concrete block from the form. The station conveyor returns the form to the form loading station to manufacture more unitary concrete blocks. For increased production, multiple forms can be conveyed between stations simultaneously. Additionally, a metering ingredient assembly may be used to deliver appropriate amounts of desired ingredients to a mixer for producing the lightweight concrete composite.

Abstract: To form a candle blank, a volume of hot liquid candle wax is injected into a generally cylindrical chamber having a length and a diameter. The hot liquid candle wax is then cooled and the length of the generally cylindrical chamber is reduced as the wax cools, so that the volume of the chamber remains substantially that of the volume of the shrinking wax. By operating in this manner, there is no room for a void to form. An apparatus to carry out the process comprises a block, a piston, a gate, a means to inject the wax, and a means to move the piston so that it follows the shrinkage of the wax as it solidifies. The block defines a generally cylindrical mold chamber for the candle blank. The mold chamber has a generally vertically positioned longitudinal axis, an upper end, and a lower end. The piston is positioned in the chamber to slide from the upper end to the lower end of the chamber. The gate is positioned at a lower end of the chamber.
