Single Inlet, Plural Shaping Orifices Patents (Class 425/464)
  • Patent number: 3964855
Abstract: A spinnerette comprising a hollow spinning element having therein a plurality of radially extending spinning apertures positioned in arrays extending around the periphery of the element. A spinning composition forced axially into the spinning element through the ends thereof is extruded by the orifices in radial directions to form filaments.

  • Patent number: 3959057
Abstract: A means and method for producing plastic netting wherein a hot pneumatic fluid such as nitrogen is used to blow filaments of one circular row of plastic filaments into contact with another circular row of plastic filaments which rows are concentric with each other and being rotated in opposite directions by a respective pair of counter-rotating dies. The hot pneumatic fluid is preferably an inert gas such as nitrogen and serves to anneal the plastic at the weld intersections of the filaments as well as to prevent oxidation during the period when the filaments are quite hot.

  • Patent number: 3957565
Abstract: Apparatus for and methods of extruding tubular plastic netting from extrusion orifices in concentric, counterrotatable inner and outer dies in which the plastic filaments extruded therefrom have substantially the same downward relative velocity so as to form netting intersections with substantially no relative shear movement between intersecting filaments.

  • Patent number: 3954361
Abstract: A mechanism and method for producing a plurality of elongate filaments of plastic material from a die head which has a plastic flow chamber for receiving a flow of heated plastic material with the chamber leading to parallel small flow passages having individual tubes extending from the individual passages and having gas flow ducts positioned laterally outwardly of the die head for receiving a flow of heated gas with the ducts directed in a converging direction outwardly of the die head and permitting the opposed streams of gas to merge around the tubes and flow parallel thereto so that a high velocity stream of gas emerges with the plastic and attenuates the plastic stream for strength.

  • Patent number: 3950122
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for high intensity shear refining of soap in a soap extruder including at least one rotating auger in a housing for high intensity shear mixing of a mass soap ranging from 3,000 to 40,000 shear cuts per minute, the auger including a shank having a plurality of flights and kneader blocks. The soap extruder includes a housing having a barrel bore for receiving said auger with said auger terminating short of said bore to form a free space, an extrusion outlet extending from said bore, a nozzle plate is secured to said housing in alignment with said extrusion outlet. The nozzle plate has at least one inwardly tapering aperture of lesser diameter than that of said extrusion outlet.

  • Patent number: 3948079
Abstract: Billet material is extruded through a die having a plurality of die apertures thereby to produce simultaneously a plurality of extruded products such as wire. In one embodiment, the die has a conical mouth with a first die aperture at the apex thereof and with a plurality of radially equispaced second die apertures located forwardly of the first die aperture, the second die apertures having bevelled entries at the inlet ends thereof communicating with the conical mouth. In another embodiment, the die has multiple aperture groupings arranged therein, each grouping having a central die aperture and a plurality of peripheral die apertures radially equispaced about the central die aperture.

  • Patent number: 3938925
Abstract: A spin pack assembly for the extrusion of synthetic filaments. Novel features are the polymer flow channels of the breaker plate and spinneret plate which comprise a capillary with open ends, the entrance ends of the breaker plate and spinneret plate and the exit end of the breaker plate defining, respectively, enlarged inlets and outlets, the walls of which intersect with adjacent walls to form a closed, interlocking network of ridges on the top surfaces of the breaker plate and spinneret plate and on the bottom surface of the breaker plate, so as to eliminate areas of low or zero velocity flow of polymer and to reduce pressure differences in polymer in the breaker plate-spinneret plate area.

  • Patent number: 3931906
Abstract: A bulb for a cathode tube comprising a cone having a narrow end adapted to receive electronic devices therein and a wide substantially rectangular base end having a screen with a curved viewing portion secured thereto. The curved viewing screen is provided with a substantially rectangular peripheral contour complementary to the contour of the base end of the cone and the viewing portion is so curved that the sections therethrough parallel to the cone base end define curves which are substantially parallel to the cone base and contour.
