  • Patent number: 9120281
Abstract: By providing projections 4 extending intermittently or continuously on the inner wall face of the cylindrical shaped bladder 2 at an inclination to the circumferential direction thereof, during vulcanization of a green tire G when the inside of the bladder 2 is filled by injecting with hot water as heating medium H and pressurizing medium, or steam as heating medium H and a gas as pressurizing medium, the heating medium H is guided along the projections 4 and flows in the circumferential direction of the expanded bladder 2, and flows in a rotating motion in the vertical direction of the bladder 2, and as a result of the synergistic action of the circular flow of the heating medium H in the circumferential direction of the bladder and the rotating flow in the vertical direction of the bladder, the temperature difference of the bladder 2 is sufficiently reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100015265
Abstract: A pressure bladder has a seamless shell made from an elastomeric material, an inner cavity, and a pressure port. The bladder can also have a reinforcement layer and an outer layer to reinforce the bladder and define the bladder's outer dimensions and pressure profile. In order to fabricate the bladder, a mandrel is formed, and the pressure port is positioned on the surface of the mandrel. The mandrel is then coated with the elastomeric material and placed in a mold. A reinforcement layer is added and an elastomeric material is injected into the mold to form the outer layer. The mandrel is then removed from the mandrel assembly by applying heat and pressure to the bladder such that the mandrel can be extracted through the pressure port.

  • Patent number: 4828470
Abstract: A tire retreading tube for use with a tire retreading rim formed from a pair of axially-adjacent rim sections, one of said sections having a cutout for the reception of the valve stem extending from the tube body and being formed with threads adjacent the tube. The tube has an extension of generally cylindrical form through which the stem extends, so that the extension surrounds the portion of the stem adjacent the tube, and functions as a spacer element and is effective to limit movement of the stem and the tube relatively to the rim section. Suitably, the spacer element threadedly engages the stem adjacent the tube, has a body which essentially fills the cutout circumferentially, and has end flanges to overlie the adjacent faces of the rim section with which it is to be associated.

Abstract: A tire retreading tube for use with a tire retreading rim formed from a pair of axially-adjacent rim sections, one of said sections having a cutout for the reception of the valve stem extending from the tube body and being formed with threads adjacent the tube. The tube is formed with an integral extension of generally cylindrical form through which the stem extends, so that the extension surrounds the portion of the stem adjacent the tube, and a nut engaging the threads on the stem and cooperating with an underlying washer is effective to pull the extension into the rim cutout and draw the tube against it.

  • Patent number: 4722379
Abstract: A coloring agent, preferably metallic particles, is disposed in a solution that contains unvulcanized diene rubber(s) and a rubber vulcanization accelerator. Crosslinkable silicone and/or modified EPDM may also be disposed in the solution. The coating material is substantially free of free sulfur, and preferably is also substantially free of carbon black. The accelerator scavenges sulfur from a vulcanized rubber substrate to auto-vulcanize the rubber solids, and any crosslinkable silicone and/or modified EPDM present. Coating materials that do not contain any coloring agent are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4664353
Abstract: A tube assembly for use in a process of vulcanizing a pre-cured tread onto a tire casing is disclosed. The tube assembly includes an elastomeric tubular wall having an inner periphery with a protective non-woven fabric layer covering a major portion thereof. The fabric layer includes a plurality of polyester cords extending in parallel relation in a single ply elastomeric matrix. Longitudinal edges of the fabric are covered by thin strips of elastomer bonded to the fabric layer and the tube wall. Superimposed fabric reinforcing swatches are bonded to the fabric layer around the valve stem. The tube assembly is resistant to being damaged prematurely by the rim which supports the tire casing in the tread vulcanization process.

  • Patent number: 4372910
Abstract: A method and apparatus of making hollow plastic articles are disclosed in which the preforms or other articles are sequentially molded from a continuous stream of plasticized resin supplied by an extruder. The preforms are formed sequentially in a plurality of molds and immediately transferred from the molds to blowing apparatus where they are blown into plastic articles. The molds are disposed in sets of two or more molds each, and the number of blowing apparatus units is equal to the number of sets of molds, with at least two sets of molds being provided. After the preform is formed in one mold of a set of molds, it is transferred while it is still hot to the corresponding blowing apparatus for that set while the extruded stream of plasticized resin is fed into the other molds to form other preforms.

  • Patent number: 4140447
Abstract: A pressure fluid connector assembly for a system to mold an article using heat transfer pressure fluid media supplied and exhausted through valved conduits. An article is formed in a mold cavity having an expansible pressure forming member with a media chamber. An assembly is positioned through a media chamber wall to provide concentric circulation during supply and exhaust of the media. An assembly has a nozzle body with a conical outer surface for frictional engagement with the surface of a coaxial bore of a resilient grommet adapted for mating engagement with and secure attachment to a media chamber wall. The nozzle body has a coaxial bore housing a core tube providing that media supply is transversely from the assembly and that media exhaust is coaxially within the assembly. An exhaust conduit extension having a remote intake end may be connected to the nozzle body.
