Accordingly, since the parison 3 can be uniformly contracted by cooling, molding failure such as streaks and uneven pattern transfer can be avoided, thus obtaining a blow-molded product having good appearance.

    Abstract: The receptacle is produced in a coextrusion-type blow molding process and consists of a stiff outer receptacle and an easily deformable inner bag which are made from respectively different thermoplastic materials that do not form a welded joint with one another. The bottom of the receptacle includes a welded seam in the area of which the welded seam of the inner bag is clamped. Pressure compensating openings are formed in the outer receptacle by the measures that a notch is cut in, except for a small residual wall thickness, and that the residual wall section is torn open by applying a force.

The plastics will resultantly conform to the shaping surfaces of the dies to form the composite while the perimeter of the air bag door is scored. A quantity of the plastic material interior of the door score lines is removed after the top cover is removed from the dies so that a seamless or hidden door is provided that can readily break open at the peripheral scores to augment air bag operation when the air bag is triggered.

The spindle includes a central passage aligned with the central passage of the cutting head and the excess material is removed by being drawn through these passages by a gaseous flow created by the vacuum source.

    Abstract: The present invention teaches an improved method and apparatus for molding plastic products which results in the removal of plastic residue such as flash from the products during the molding process itself. The invention teaches the use of flash retainers, situated within the mold, and into which a portion of the plastic flash becomes trapped during the molding process. After the mold is opened, the product is removed, leaving the flash still secured to the mold. The flash is then removed from the mold by the use of ejector rods which are inserted to within the flash retainers, forcing the flash from the retainer and thereby releasing the flash from the mold. In one embodiment, the flash is pinched between two members which are moved simultaneously away from the molded product to tear the flash completely away from the outer periphery of the molded product.

The male mold member has a molding surface corresponding in shape to the compression molded portion of the article. A cutting member is also provided on the blow pin. The cutting member is also movable relative to said parison. Once the parison is enclosed in a hollow mold, the male mold member of the blow pin compresses a portion of the parison between the second portion of the hollow mold and the molding surfaces of the male mold member so as to form the compression molded portion of the article.
