  • Patent number: 4890993
Abstract: A primary forming member is associated with a secondary supporting structure to allow rapid construction of elongate concrete structures of uniform cross-section by removing the primary forming member before the concrete mass supported by the secondary supporting structure is set or self-supporting. The primary forming member provides plural spaced forming arches, foldable for transport, and supported for vertical motion on a carriage providing for horizontal motion along the axis of symmetry of the formed structure. The primary forming member supports a plurality of spaced support arches of the secondary supporting structure with a plurality of cross elements therebetween to support rigid panels that create a forming surface for plastic concrete and remain as a part of a formed concrete structure to provide insulation. The forming system forms a self-supporting arched concrete surface with spaced depending arches by being sequentially moved axially therealong.

  • Patent number: 4824350
Abstract: The invention relates to a sliding shuttering system for producing concrete structure walls, particularly for conical and/or sloping reinforced concrete structures with annularly closed, varying cross-sections. Especially in the case of sloping structures with upwardly diverging wall regions, the hitherto known sliding shuttering systems can only be used to a limited extent with regards stability and security. In order to be able to perform a sliding process even in the case of extreme structure configurations, the support is made rigid and is mounted on angularly adjustable piles, at least one of the pairwise associated piles being fixed to the support to prevent horizontal shifting.

  • Patent number: 4808030
Abstract: Shield tunnelling method and assembling and disassembling apparatus for use in practicing the method. A shield having shield jacks is actuated for drilling a hole in the ground. Inner forms and outer forms are assembled into a plurality of tubular units coaxially jointed in the hole so that an annular concrete lining space is defined between the inner forms and the outer forms, the tubular units having a leading tubular unit. The shield jacks are applied against inner forms of the leading tubular units for thrusting the shield during actuating of the shield to further drill the hole. A concrete is injected into the annular concrete lining space to form a concrete lining. The concrete lining within a predetermined length of tubular units is set for providing adhesion to the inner forms, in contact with the concrete lining, against a reaction force of the jack thrust for the shield.

Abstract: A concrete placing apparatus comprises a power-operated carriage and mounted thereon a feed hopper, a first and a second endless belts adapted for moulding lateral sides of a concrete layer being formed, and mounted parallel to one another on rolls having a vertical axis of rotation, and a concrete compacting mechanism. The latter is constructed in the form of a third and a second endless belts disposed in one horizontal plane above the first and second endless belts. The third endless belt is intended for exertion vibration action upon the concrete mix being placed, and is mounted on two rolls having a horizontal axis of rotation, at least one of said rolls being provided with unbalances mounted therein on its driving shaft coaxial therewith. The fourth belt is intended for damping vibration of a freshly placed concrete and mounted on rolls having a horizontal axis of rotation behind the third endless belt.

  • Patent number: 4245451
Abstract: Method and apparatus for automatically laying block units, such as bricks or concrete blocks, to form a wall-like structure. The block units are successively positioned beneath a gripping head which picks up each block unit and deposits it on a table which is mounted for lateral movement and for movement normal to this lateral movement. After each block is placed on the table, the latter is shifted laterally a block length until a course of block units is formed, after which the table is shifted a block height in the direction normal to the course. Then a second course of block units is formed against the first course of units. These operations are continued until a wall-like structure of predetermined dimensions is formed.

  • Patent number: 4228114
Abstract: An elongated concrete structure, such as a bridge, is constructed by providing at a construction zone located at one end of the site of the structure a formwork arrangement which includes a bottom formwork within which the structure may be formed in discrete sections. Successive discrete sections formed in the formwork are joined together and launched in series from the construction zone toward the opposite end of the site across which the structure is to extend. As each section of the structure is launched, the bottom formwork is moved together with each section across one section length in the launching direction while the remainder of the formwork arrangement is maintained stationary at the construction zone.

  • Patent number: 4207042
Abstract: A machine for horizontal casting of concrete wall panels and slabs and for assembling them together to form room units or single-story buildings. The machine includes a wheeled frame, movable along a rail-track; two form-erectors, rotatable parallel to the rail-track; two form-strippers, rotatable across the track, and a lifting mould. All edges on the form-erectors and form-strippers are detachable and must be taken away before rotating. When used at the plant, the machine erects the room units on two trailers (one on each side of a casting station). A typical technological cycle starts with erecting a cross wall panel on an incomplete room unit. For this purpose the form-stripper rotates into vertical position, the machine moves close to the room unit, and the panel is released with a bottom hinged lock bracket. After the panel is fixed, the room unit, having been on the trailer, is ready for transportation to the job site.

  • Patent number: 4140466
Abstract: To accomplish the invention, a backing panel is slidably supported on longitudinal rails in turn supported on upright portable frame members. The frame members removably support a header plate and such header plate in turn is arranged to support a wire mesh in suspended relation. Air blown concrete is deposited on the wire mesh against the backing panel to form the wall, the backing panel being movable on its supporting rails progressively as wall sections are formed. The upright portable frame members support a vertical cutter in the form of a continuous power driven wire movable along the front of the newly formed wall to provide a flat, smooth face thereon.

  • Patent number: 4133859
Abstract: A process and apparatus for making a plurality of building modules each having an insulating foam core encased in a shell of fiber reinforced cementitious material. A longitudinal casting zone is provided having continuous side rails and end-to-end base members having lengths corresponding to the lengths of the modules being formed. A continuous bottom layer of fiber reinforced cementitious material is cast over the base members and extending the length of the casting zone. The bottom layer is divided into lengths and lateral end members are inserted between the side rails in the spaces between the divided bottom layer lengths. A foam core is placed on each bottom layer length and wet fiber reinforced cementitious material is successively applied over the entire length of the casting zone so as to fill in the free spaces surrounding each core member and cover it with a layer of cementitious material thereby completely encasing each core member.

The moulds are pressed against the concrete structure by the legs of a yoke construction which is arranged to be successively lifted by jacks cooperating with jack rods. The legs of the yoke construction are caused during lifting to slide directly or indirectly against the jack rods which are positioned between the legs of the yoke construction and the moulds.

  • Patent number: RE32936
Abstract: An adjustable mold for casting asymmetric concrete highway divider sections includes a fixed sidewall, a movable sidewall, and two end walls. Each of the end walls is divided vertically into a first fixed panel and a second adjustable panel. The old can be set up to produce a barrier section that accommodates any difference in grade levels between the separated roadway lanes, within a preselected range, by adjusting the height of each second end panel relative to the adjacent first end panel and by adjusting the height of the movable sidewall to match the second end panels. All adjustments are made by means of simple jack screws. The end walls and the movable sidewall are mounted on hinged frames that can be swung open to facilitate removing a section casting from the mold.
