  • Patent number: 7338270
Abstract: A guide device is adapted to be removably attached to a flat box device for use in applying mastic adjacent an outside corner or edge. The guide device includes a generally S-shaped guide bar, a bracket, and a spring. The bracket is adapted to attach to the flat box device. The guide bar is pivotably and slidably retained by the a first bracket portion. The spring is adapted to bias a first guide bar end of the guide bar away from the first bracket portion of the bracket. The guide bar extends across a width of the flat box device and the first guide bar end extends below the flat box device when the guide device is operably installed on the flat box device. The spring biases the guide bar in a lateral direction corresponding to the width of the flat box device when the guide device is operably installed on the flat box device.

Abstract: A tool for applying mastic to drywall, having a flexible trowelling bar for smoothing and shaping the applied mastic. The curvature of the trowelling bar is controlled by the rotation of a cam that is positioned on a rigid support and that is directly coupled to the trowelling bar through a link. Springs are positioned between the rigid support and the trowelling bar to maintain tension on the link during rotation of the cam. The springs exert pressure on the trowelling bar through plungers having rounded feet that maintain consistent contact with the trowelling bar as the curvature of the trowelling bar changes.

Abstract: A tool for use in connection with a wall covering material source having a nozzle to dispense wall material to be applied to a wall. The has a plate having a front surface, and a back surface which is adapted to slide along the wall surface. The back surface defines an opening, and the plate defines a passageway passing through the plate and coupled to the back surface opening. A tube connected to the front surface of the plate and coupled to the passageway of the plate is adapted to receive the nozzle of the wall material source. The plate passageway directs the wall material dispensed from the source nozzle to the back surface opening to be delivered for application to the wall surface.

Abstract: A method for extruding synthetic welding material using a welding device for synthetic welding material for the purpose of producing welding seams is characterized by the following features:a) A plastic wire is drawn by a feed device into the welding device (11, 12, 38) for synthetic welding material;b) The plastic wire is fed by the feed device (11, 12, 38) with a specific advancement into a cutting device (26, 36) of the welding device for synthetic welding material;c) In the cutting device (26, 36), pieces are cut consecutively from the plastic wire while forming essentially even cutting surfaces;d) The advancement of the plastic wire and the cutting frequency of the cutting device (26, 36) are in such a ratio to each other that the cut-off length of the pieces is in the same magnitude as the mean diameter of the plastic wire;e) The pieces are then heated until they are plastified;f) The plastified synthetic material is ejected as synthetic welding material from the welding device for synthetic welding mat

  • Patent number: 5670182
Abstract: A mastic applicator includes a guide mechanism mounted to the applicator so that the applicator is maintained in alignment with outside corners during application of mastic. The guide mechanism includes a pair of corner guides which have guide surfaces aligned with the side edges of the outlet from which the mastic flows. The corner guides are spring mounted so that they retract when they are not positioned at a corner, thereby allowing the applicator to be used on both sides of a corner, as well as on flat joints, without adjustment to the applicator. The mechanism also includes a pair of stub guides located on the applicator surface. The stub guides can be slid into position to engage opposite outside corners of a stub wall for effective application of mastic between the outside corners.

  • Patent number: 5622729
Abstract: A corner finisher spreads mastic on a joint formed at an inside corner of drywall. The drywall corner finisher is conventionally used with a plurality of alternative tools for supplying a plurality of coats of mastic in different thicknesses. Therefore, a quick disconnect coupler is provided to rapidly change the tools and yet to hold them so securely that there is almost no chance for an unwanted disconnect between the drywall corner finisher and one of the alternative tools for supplying mastic. The invention provides such a coupler in the form of a ball and socket behind a sliding locking plate having a key hole slot in it for receiving a ball on a mastic delivery device.

Abstract: A grout sealant applicator for holding a quantity of low viscosity liquid grout sealant and for controlling the uniform rate of dispensing the sealant into the groove of the grout of a tile floor. The applicator includes an elongated tubular handle which is fillable from one end with sealant and a sealant flow regulating valve at the other end of the handle. A nozzle is connected to the valve so that sealant flows by gravity feed from the handle when positioned somewhat uprightly, through the valve and a small longitudinal bore within the nozzle. The handle is of sufficient length to hold a large quantity of sealant to minimize refills and to permit the hand grasping and manipulating of the upper end thereof to cause the distal end of the nozzle to slide within the grooves formed by the grout and without the need for stooping or kneeling.

  • Patent number: 5566866
Abstract: The disclosed port device has a tubular inlet end stepped with progressively smaller land areas sized to establish a leakproof separable joint with outer land areas of conventional material mixing/dispensing tubes. Separate radial base blades hinged from the port device near its outlet end fit either unfolded flush against a flat surface aligned over a crack therein or back-folded into the crack itself, for alternative uses of the port device. The port device beyond the base is beveled across end edges, for cooperating with corner surfaces and guiding material discharge under pressure into an underlying corner crack, where two partly folded base blades can then fit flush against the corner surfaces. An expandable sleeve fitted into the structure crack can be deformed radially upon tightening a nut for retaining the port device in the structure even when dispensing material under high pressures into the crack, as by an accessory fitting mechanically locked to the port device.
