Patent number: 9613098Abstract: A recommendation engine for works of literature uses patterns of flow and element similarities for scoring a first user-rated work of literature against one or more recommendation candidate works of literature. Cluster models are created using meta-data modeling the works of literature, the meta-data having literary element categories and instances within each category. Each instance is described by an index value (position in the literature) and significance value (e.g. weight or significance). Cluster finding process(es) invoked for each instance in each category find Similarity Concept clusters and Consistency Trend clusters, which are recorded into the cluster models representing each work of literature. The cluster model can be printed or displayed so that a user can visually understand the ebb and flow of each literary element in the literature, and may be digitally compared to other cluster models of other works of literature for potential recommendation to a user.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2014Date of Patent: April 4, 2017Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Corville O. Patent number: 9011959Abstract: A novel canola protein isolate made predominantly of 2S canola protein and having equal to better solubility properties and improved clarity properties, has an increased proportion of 2S canola protein and a decreased proportion of 7S canola protein. The novel canola protein isolate is formed by heat treatment or isoelectric precipitation of aqueous supernatant from canola protein micelle formation and precipitation, to effect precipitation of 7S protein which is sedimented and removed. Alternatively, the novel canola protein isolate may be derived from a selective membrane procedure in which an aqueous canola protein solution containing 12S, 7S and 2S canola proteins is subjected to a first selective membrane technique to retain 12S and 7S canola proteins in a retentate, which is dried to provide a canola protein isolate consisting predominantly of 7S canola protein, and to permit 2S canola protein to pass through the membrane.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2013Date of Patent: April 21, 2015Assignee: Burcon Nutrascience (MB) Corp.Inventors: Martin Schweizer, Brent E. Publication number: 20150105255Abstract: Derivatives of Agrobacterium vitis strain F2/5 are disclosed. These derivatives were generated following homologous recombination with an internal fragment of targeted genes resulting in gene disruption by insertion of a copy of suicide vector pVIK165. The genes disrupted were F-avi5813 encoding a phosphopantetheinyltransferase, F-avi4329 encoding an aminotransferase and F-avi0838 (rirA) encoding an iron responsive transcriptional regulator. Such derivatives control crown gall on grapevines. In addition, these derivatives did not induce roots necrosis but enhanced root development and callus formation. On young stem explants, it was shown as well that the F2/5 derivatives are necrosis-negative.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2013Publication date: April 16, 2015Applicant: Cornell UniversityInventors: Thomas J.
